Job Description
Position- Cricket Community Coach
Hours: Up to 37 hours per week to include work on evenings and weekends as well as
during the day on weekdays as required.
Salary: £23.5k (Part Time Pro-Rata) Plus expenses and Pension
Contract Type: Full – time and Part – time roles available (2 or 3 day contracts)
Location: Working within schools and the community around Northamptonshire
Responsible to: Community and Partnerships Manager
Steelbacks Foundation is the Governing Body for recreational cricket in
Northamptonshire, delivering services in support of the cricket community across the
county. It is one of 39 County Cricket Boards / Foundations in England & Wales and works
in partnership with a number of key stakeholders to develop the recreational game locally
in line with the strategy developed by the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
Job Specification
The Steelbacks Foundation are looking to appoint a number of Community Cricket
Coaches, to lead and support the delivery of a range of high – quality cricket and
community projects, programmes and events that engage and inspire individuals in order
to sustain and grow cricket participation opportunities and to help establish cricket as a
game for all in line with the Northamptonshire equity, diversity and inclusion plan. The
role will be key to establishing cricket as the most inclusive team sport in
Northamptonshire, in line with the Steelbacks Foundation Strategic EDI Plan 2025-2026.

You’ll be Doing
➢ Delivery on our Chance To Shine Primary schools coaching programme, plus any
other schools coaching as directed by the Steelbacks Foundation plan.
➢ Delivering assemblies introducing our Cricket programmes and signposting
participants to local progression opportunities.
➢ Delivering coaching within our Disability Programmes – including Super 1s and
Table Cricket.
➢ Delivering and leading on our cricket coaching camps during the school holidays.
➢ Supporting the delivery of ECBs Nationally recognised participation programmes
e.g. All Stars and Dynamos Cricket
➢ Coordinating and delivering teacher Continual Professional Development (CPD)
with the Junior Participation Manager.
➢ Supporting School Competitions and Festivals.
➢ Supporting delivery of community activity (e.g. Walking Cricket; Moulton College
etc) where appropriate.
➢ Delivering on the MCC Foundation Hubs (winter evening training)
➢ Running Junior Indoor Leagues (evenings)
➢ Keeping on top of emails and responding in a timely manner.
➢ Recording all data relating to coaching delivery, ensuring it’s up to date and
correct (e.g. Chance To Shine Portal)
➢ Supporting as directed all aspects of Steelbacks Foundation operation.
➢ A willingness to support Northamptonshire County Cricket Club in different
capacities on matchdays (weeknights and weekends)

information accordingly.

Essentials
➢ Applicants must have a Driving License and access to transport.
➢ ECB Foundation Coach (Level 1) qualification as a minimum.
Desirables
➢ Experience of delivering sport to primary school ages.
➢ Excellent communication skills, enthusiastic and inspiring when delivering to
children and young people.
➢ Excellent keyboard skills, be computer literate and knowledge of Microsoft Office
Packages (Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint).
➢ A flexible approach with the ability to adjust to different requirements as priorities
change.
➢ Valid First Aid certificate undertaken in the last 3 years (Assistance available).
➢ Valid ECB Disclosure and Barring Service Certificate (Assistance available)
➢ Valid Safeguarding qualification (Assistance Available).
