Job Description
North Yorkshire Sport are looking for a Head of Research, Evaluation and Impact to lead our evidence and insight agenda — helping us to understand, demonstrate, and amplify the difference we make.

This is a pivotal role in shaping how we measure success, learn from our work, and influence change across the system. You’ll lead our research and evaluation programmes, including major initiatives such as the Mayor’s Fund and Sport England’s Place Universal funding, while embedding a culture of continuous learning across the organisation.

You’ll translate data and evidence into compelling stories that influence partners, funders, and policymakers — ensuring our insight drives better decisions and greater impact.

About You
You’ll be an experienced researcher or evaluator with a passion for learning, impact, and social change. You’ll bring:

A strong grounding in research and evaluation methodologies, including innovative and participatory approaches.

The ability to turn data and evidence into actionable insight that informs practice and strategy.

Experience of working collaboratively across sectors — from health and education to community and voluntary organisations.

Excellent communication skills and confidence presenting to diverse audiences.

A commitment to tackling inequalities and championing the role of sport and physical activity in improving lives.

Experience in the sport, health, or social change sectors is desirable but not essential — we’re looking for someone who shares our curiosity

Why Join Us?
At North Yorkshire Sport, you’ll join a passionate and ambitious team making big things happen. We offer:

A rewarding role at an exciting time for the charity.
A supportive, flexible workplace where staff feel strong connection to our purpose.
A team that our staff consistently recommend as “a great place to work”.
A range of employee benefits (see recruitment page for details).
Our commitment to inclusion and belonging:
North Yorkshire Sport values diversity and is committed to equality. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and life experiences, regardless of their own relationship with being physically active. If you don’t meet every requirement but feel you have the skills and passion to succeed, we encourage you to apply.
