Job Description
# Sports Physiotherapist

**Newton Physio | Twyford, Winchester**

## Join us as we build something different

Newton Physio is growing, and we’re looking for an ambitious physiotherapist who wants more than simply moving from patient to patient all day.

Our vision is to build a class-leading rehabilitation and performance clinic for active people and endurance athletes — combining excellent clinical care, high-quality rehabilitation, objective testing and strength & conditioning to help people not just recover from injury, but return stronger and perform at their best.

We want to create a clinic where clinicians are proud of the standard of care they provide, have time to think properly about their patients, continue developing their skills and genuinely enjoy coming to work.

If you want to become an exceptional clinician and be part of helping shape a growing clinic, this could be a great opportunity.

## About Newton Physio

Newton Physio is a specialist physiotherapy and rehabilitation clinic based in Twyford, near Winchester.

Our focus is simple:

**Helping active people thrive after injury.**

We work extensively with runners, cyclists, endurance athletes and active individuals dealing with everything from persistent injuries through to post-operative rehabilitation and return to sport.

We’re particularly interested in areas including:

* Running injuries
* Tendinopathy
* Bone stress injuries
* Lower-limb rehabilitation
* Post-operative rehabilitation
* Cycling injuries and bike fitting
* Strength & conditioning
* Return to sport and performance

Our approach is built around spending time understanding the person in front of us, creating an individual rehabilitation plan and measuring progress rather than relying purely on symptoms.

We use technology including VALD ForceDecks alongside traditional clinical assessment, gym-based rehabilitation and performance testing.

## Where we’re going

We’re not trying to build a high-volume treatment clinic.

Over the coming years, we want Newton Physio to become one of the leading rehabilitation and endurance performance clinics in the region.

Our longer-term vision is to develop a multidisciplinary team incorporating physiotherapy, strength & conditioning, sports medicine, podiatry and sport & exercise science.

We want the clinic to become somewhere that athletes and active people trust when they have difficult injuries, want a second opinion or want to make sure they return to sport properly.

Just as importantly, we want it to become a place where ambitious clinicians come to develop their careers.

You would be joining early enough to have a genuine influence on how that develops.

## The role

You’ll manage your own caseload of predominantly MSK and sports rehabilitation patients while becoming an important part of the wider development of the clinic.

This isn’t a role where you’ll be expected to see huge numbers of patients in short appointments.

Our standard appointments are designed to give clinicians enough time to provide excellent care:

**Initial assessments: 60 minutes**
**Follow-up appointments: 45 minutes**

We want you to have time to understand the patient's story, assess properly, explain your findings, develop a plan and actually coach rehabilitation.

There will also be opportunities to contribute to our flagship rehab coaching program 'Rehab 2 Perform' which will involve online rehab programming and work from home.

## Your development

This is one of the most important parts of the role.

We don’t expect you to arrive knowing everything, ideally with experience in elite sport and private practice.

We do expect you to be curious, motivated and genuinely interested in becoming better.

You’ll be supported to develop your clinical reasoning, rehabilitation skills and confidence managing active populations.

Development may include:

* Regular clinical mentoring and case discussions
* Structured CPD
* Joint patient reviews where appropriate
* Developing skills using objective testing and VALD technology
* Rehabilitation programming and strength & conditioning
* Return-to-running and return-to-sport decision making
* Opportunities to develop a specialist area of interest
* Support attending relevant external courses and education
* Opportunities to contribute to internal teaching and clinical discussions

As Newton Physio grows, we want your role to grow with it.

That could mean becoming a recognised specialist within the clinic, taking responsibility for a particular service, mentoring future clinicians or helping shape how we deliver rehabilitation across the business.

We want this to be somewhere you can build a career rather than simply fill a diary.

## What we're looking for

We’re looking for someone who cares deeply about doing a good job.

Someone who wants to understand **why** something is happening rather than simply giving every patient the same exercises.

You’ll probably enjoy working here if you:

* Are passionate about MSK and sports rehabilitation
* Enjoy working with active people
* Want to develop excellent rehabilitation and exercise-prescription skills
* Are interested in strength & conditioning and performance
* Value evidence-informed practice
* Enjoy learning and discussing clinical cases
* Take ownership of your patients' rehabilitation
* Communicate clearly and build strong relationships
* Are comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
* Want to contribute ideas rather than simply follow a system
* Care about providing an exceptional patient experience

Experience working with runners, cyclists or athletes would be valuable but isn't essential if you're enthusiastic about developing in these areas.

## Our values

### Excellence

We want to deliver an exceptionally high standard of care.

That doesn't mean pretending to know everything. It means continually asking how we can assess better, communicate better, rehabilitate better and ultimately achieve better outcomes for our patients.

### Education

Education sits at the centre of what we do.

We want patients to understand their injury and feel confident managing it.

We also believe clinicians should never stop learning.

### Commitment

Great rehabilitation happens between appointments as much as it does inside the clinic.

We want clinicians who genuinely care about their patients' progress and are prepared to go the extra mile to help them succeed.

## More than treating injuries

As the clinic develops, there will be opportunities to get involved beyond day-to-day clinical work.

Depending on your interests, this could include:

* Running workshops or education evenings
* Creating educational content
* Supporting local running and cycling communities
* Developing new rehabilitation pathways
* Helping build specialist services
* Contributing to our online rehabilitation programmes
* Performance testing
* Working alongside future members of our multidisciplinary team

We actively want people who have ideas.

If there's an area of physiotherapy or performance you're passionate about, we'd like to help you develop it.

## Why join Newton Physio?

Because we want to build an environment where both patients **and clinicians** can thrive.

You'll have the opportunity to work in a growing clinic with excellent rehabilitation facilities, longer appointments, objective testing technology and a genuine emphasis on exercise-based rehabilitation.

But the bigger opportunity is development.

You’ll be joining a business that is still growing, which means there is significant opportunity to shape your role, develop specialist skills and become an important part of where Newton Physio goes next.

If you're looking for somewhere you can continue learning, challenge yourself and become a better clinician while helping build something exciting, we'd love to hear from you.

How to apply

Please send us your CV along with a short introduction telling us:

**Why does this role interest you, what type of clinician do you want to become, and what would you love to develop over the next few years?**

We care just as much about where you want to go as where you are now.
