SEND Physical Activity Coach/Manager Organisation Move More Salary £24,000 - £30,000 Location Gloucestershire Contract type (Full time) Closing date 5 May 2025 Job Description We are seeking to recruit an exceptional SEND Physical Activity Manager to join our passionate and experienced team at Move More. This is an exciting new opportunity for the right candidate to lead, shape and grow our SEND-focused provision across a variety of education and community settings.We are looking for people that share Move More's values and goals, to help us grow and prosper, to make a positive contribution to inclusive physical activity opportunities for children with SEND across Cheltenham, Tewkesbury, and wider across Gloucestershire and South Worcestershire.PurposeTo have a positive and sustained impact on children with SEND through the leadership and delivery of high-quality, school and community-based physical activity initiatives, while supporting the development of school staff confidence and competence through CPD.Main Duties• To plan, organise and deliver high quality inclusive activity sessions at a variety of different community and school settings, across age ranges (5-18 years).• To deliver high quality PE lessons within primary schools whilst upskilling teachers and teaching assistants responsible for the class.• To deliver specific interventions for identified children with SEND, i.e. those most at risk of disengaging from physical activity, requiring sensory-friendly adaptations, or needing tailored movement-based interventions to support emotional regulation. • To work with a range of partners on the delivery of inclusive community provision. • To lead on the delivery of all parts of the programme and provision, including acting as Camp Leader for SEND-specific holiday provision, and overseeing the supervision and delegation of tasks to other staff members as required.• To support and help deliver Move More’s vision and organisational goals.• To actively promote the work and public image of the charity, by always maintaining high standards of personal appearance and adopting a friendly, professional approach to the public.• To undertake other duties, as specified by the Head of SEND or a member of the Senior Management, which are appropriate to the level and general responsibilities of the post.Please note: As part of this role is community based the hours of the role will need to be flexible to suit the requirements of the programme - evening and weekend work will be required on a weekly basis. Knowledge and Understanding• A clear vision and understanding of how physical activity positively impacts the development of children and young people with SEND, supporting their physical, social, and emotional well-being. • A confident and proficient sports coach across multiple sports and activities, with experience of adapting activities for diverse needs and abilities. • Sound knowledge and understanding of neurodiversity, sensory processing, and movement-based interventions to support engagement. • Knowledge of inclusive coaching strategies, disability sport, and best practices in adapted physical activity. • An up-to-date understanding of the current sport and physical activity landscape and national concerns associated with inclusion, accessibility, and health inequalities. Experience• Extensive Experience of working with children and young people with SEND e.g. within PE lessons, after-school clubs, holiday camps, and community settings. • Experience of line managing and mentoring staff.• Experience of the management, organisation and delivery of programmes, • Experience of working across a range of sports and physical activities, using inclusive coaching strategies and person-centred approaches. • Experience of developing innovative and informed solutions to the challenges faced by children and young people with SEND, as well as supporting their engagement and enjoyment in physical activity. Qualifications• A Minimum Level 2 NGB Coaching Award or working towards.• A sports related degree or teaching qualification would be desirable.• Evidence of professional development relevant to the role.• Current UK driving license (use of own transport essential).Skills and attributes• Highly motivated and able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills that suit a range of needs and audiences. • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet conflicting deadlines. • To be flexible, creative and innovative in overcoming barriers for positive change. • The ability to create positive working relationships with a large range of professionals, organisations & individuals.• The ability to have a supportive and empathetic approach to line management whilst maintaining expected standards. • The ability to work independently and as part of a team. • An ability to work in partnership, delivering high quality, front line services that are flexible and responsive to need and change.• A desire and passion to make a real difference to the lives and life-chances of children and young people with SEND. • Proficient IT skills such as the use of Microsoft Office packages. • A commitment to ongoing learning and professional development in inclusive coaching and SEND support.
