Operations Manager - Deputy Director of Sport Organisation Millfield School Salary £55,000-£60,000 per annum Location Street, Somerset Contract type Permanent (Full time) Closing date 13 June 2025 Interview date 17 June 2025 Job Description Millfield School is seeking an outstanding Operations Manager – Deputy Director of Sport to join our Sport Department at the earliest opportunity. This senior operational role is ideal for a driven individual with strong leadership, logistical, and financial management skills, and a passion for sport.Reporting to the Director of Sport, you will lead the day-to-day operational coordination of our diverse and high-performing sports provision, supporting the delivery of approximately 30 sports. As a key member of the Sports Central Ops Team, you will work closely with the planning and events lead and liaise extensively with the wider school, particularly the Operations, Academic, and Co-curricular departments.Key Responsibilities:• Sports Operations Lead: You will ensure the efficient delivery of programmes and resources, oversee teacher-coach management, and lead on scheduling, risk assessments, and student feedback. You will play a pivotal role in analysing and presenting data via SOCS, and lead the setup and review of Year 9 and 10 sport.• Sport Finance Lead: You will coordinate termly reviews of sports budgets, authorise routine claims and expenses, and oversee financial administration on behalf of the Director of Sport.• Additional responsibilities: You will also line manage several Heads of Sport, support one or more sports with planning, oversee the management of multisport students, and deputise for the Director of Sport or Heads of Sport as required.We are looking for an experienced leader with a proven track record in programme and logistics management, team leadership, and budget oversight. You should thrive in high-pressure environments, be adept at solving multiple problems concurrently, and possess excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.Desirable attributes include experience with national sporting bodies, knowledge of SOCS, and a background in coaching or sports administration.This is a full-time role which includes work during the school holidays, working an average of 42 hours per week across Monday to Saturday. In return you will receive a salary of £55,000-£60,000 per annum (commensurate with experience), 10 weeks holiday per annum to be taken outside of term time, plus an extensive range of staff benefits.
