HEAD ACADEMY PHYSIOTHERAPIST Organisation Middlesbrough Football Club Salary Enquire Location Rockcliffe Hall Training Ground, Hurworth Darlington Contract type Permanent (Full time) Closing date 8 August 2025 Job Description A rare opportunity has arisen at Middlesbrough Football Club for a full-time Head Academy Physiotherapist for our CATEGORY 1 ACADEMY. Based at the Club’s Training Ground in the picturesque village of Hurworth near Darlington, the main purpose of this role will be to contribute to the achievement of the aims and objectives of the Medical and Science Department through the delivery of best practice physiotherapy. The Role:• To contribute to the control of the Medical Department operating costs in line with agreed budgets• To lead the development and the scheduling of all therapists involved within the Academy• To lead on the provision of all medical services for U9-U23s, including logistics and appropriate medical cover for all Academy training sessions and matches• To demonstrate objectivity, progression, and forward planning for all rehabilitation processes within the Academy. Together with Strength and Conditioning and Sport Science support, illustrate a desire to improve overall athleticism of players who are rehabilitating from an injury• To lead on case reviews on both successful and unsuccessful rehabilitation• To manage two full time Physiotherapists and ensure they receive regular appraisals and feedback on their performance• To be responsible for the assessment and treatment of a selected squad of Academy players including the development, organisation and implementation of the treatment and rehabilitation programmes• To be involved in all medical/health related matters appertaining to all Academy players• To be responsible for the maintenance and security of medical records and medical insurance documentation for selected Academy players ensuring that all data is kept up to date and stored securely and confidentially and provide regular reports and updates to relevant heads of departments concerning all medical/health related matters• To assist with medical provision of the First Team when requested• To ensure current safeguarding regulations and protocols are maintained and complied withCandidates should:• Be eligible to work in the UK• Have extensive experience working within sport, preferably in a professional football club environment with senior and/or youth players• Be a Chartered Physiotherapist and a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.• Demonstrate extensive knowledge of treating youth players• Be registered with the Health Professional Council• Be respectful of the complexity of short and long-term rehabilitation and the role of the physiotherapist• Demonstrate excellent communication, IT and presentation skills• Demonstrate a pro-active approach and be adaptable to change• Demonstrate attention to detail within bounds of Physiotherapy• Be dedicated to self-improvement and personal development How to apply If you would like to be part of a committed team and can demonstrate MFC’s core value behaviours, please follow the below link to apply - https://irecruit.efl.com/vacancies/1964/head-academy-physiotherapist.html Share X LinkedIn Email
