London Universities and Colleges Athletics (LUCA) is a federation of university athletics clubs across London, the East and South East of England. We bring together university athletics clubs to deliver competitions, support student leaders, and strengthen the university athletics community.

LUCA’s work includes cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field fixtures, club development, and wider initiatives designed to make student athletics more connected, inclusive and sustainable.

About the role

The Operations Lead ensures LUCA’s competitions and activities run smoothly by connecting people, maintaining oversight, and making sure plans turn into action.

This is a coordination and leadership role, less about doing everything yourself, and more about working in collaboration, ensuring the right people are talking, timelines are clear, and nothing falls through the cracks.

The Operations Lead is the organisational “glue” between competition heads, marketing, finance, web, and trustees. The role oversees the operational delivery of LUCA competitions and activities and ensures events are delivered safely, professionally, and in line with LUCA’s strategic objectives.

Strong organisational and coordination skills
Clear and confident communicator, (verbal & written)
Self disciplined multi tasker

Able to see organisational interdependencies
Flexible, Calm and pragmatic problem-solver

Desirable

Experience in sport, events, or student leadership
Interest in sport management or governance
Experience volunteering / working for a charity
Experience coordinating small teams
Proficient with MS office and confident in using team tools such as Google Drive, task trackers, spreadsheets
