Job Description
London South Bank University are excited to be recruiting for the post of Sports Development Officer.

This position offers the successful candidate with the opportunity to inspire the development of our students, staff and community through sport and physical activity. Working as part of the Sports Development Department, this position will be responsible for coordinating, developing and growing our student sports offer, which includes Sports Scholarships, Sports Clubs, Recreational Sport, and Pop-Up Sport. Additionally, there will be responsibility for supporting the coordination of the Sports Ambassador Scheme, Coach Education Programme, Community Sport Programme, and a range of Events & Initiatives. The postholder will develop and maintain excellent relationships with internal departments, external organisations, and key stakeholders, to develop and grow the sports and physical activity offer at the University.

Key Responsibilities
1. To assist with the development of a sport and activity offer at the University.
2. To assist in the development and support of a comprehensive sports development plan for the department.
3. To assist in the management and development of the student sports clubs and club leadership.
4. To increase participation in sport and physical activity amongst target groups.
5. To assist with the management and development of the Sports Ambassador Scheme, a paid-work based learning programme for students.
6. To assist with the development of a sport and physical activity offer for the local community.
7. To establish working relationships with key local sports agencies, NGBs, and external organisations in conjunction with LSBU Active to further the student sporting experience.
8. To have a responsibility towards the marketing of the department, its services and activities, utilising and maintaining websites, social media platforms, and other means of marketing and promotion.
9. To assist with reports including qualitative and quantitative analysis, participation figures, participant demographics, financial analysis, key issues, recommendations on present and future developments.
10.To carry out any other duties, commensurate with grade, that may be reasonably requested by the Sports Development Manager.
Person specification / Selection criteria
A. Good understanding of the sporting landscape and the structure and relationship of the organisations that operate within it, with a focus on HE sport.
B. Experience of developing a sports & physical activity offer, suitable to the needs and demands of specific target groups
C. Proven record of coordinating sports and/or physical activity programmes
D. Experience of workforce development, including recruitment, up-skilling, and deployment of staff
D. Proven record of establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with key local sports agencies, NGBs, and external organisations
E. Excellent inter-personal skills and customer-focused services which meet the needs of a diverse community; dealing with face-to-face enquiries
F. Sports Coaching, Fitness and/or Child Care Qualification(s).
