In this role, you will lead the Mavericks’ performance programme into the next era—developing elite athletes, building a world-class pathway, and championing player wellbeing. This role is at the heart of our sporting ambition: athlete-centred, performance-driven, and relentlessly progressive

High Performance Leadership
• Build and lead a best-in-class high performance system for elite netball.
• Oversee the day-to-day management of all performance departments including, S&C, medical, nutrition, psychology, and analysis.
• Strategic leadership of the performance support programme.
• Design and deliver a season-long training and competition programme that prepares Mavericks to win alongside the Director of Netball.
• Develop and maintain high-performance standards that drive accountability, growth, and cohesion.

Strength & Conditioning
• Design, implement and monitor a robust S&C programme tailored to netball-specific performance demands.
• Ensure all athletes have individualised S&C plans that integrate physical development, injury prevention, and return-to-play protocols.
• Lead or supervise physical testing, monitoring, and data analysis to drive continual improvement.
• Collaborate with coaches and medical staff to manage load, recovery, and progression effectively.

Athlete Development & Wellbeing
• Champion a wellbeing-first culture that supports athletes’ physical, mental, and emotional health.
• Ensure all staff are trained in and accountable for safe, developmentally appropriate coaching practices.
• Lead individual performance planning for each contracted athlete, balancing performance and welfare.
• Understanding of using GPS to track athletes.

Pathway & Talent
• Support the Mavericks Academy and performance pathway ensuring that performance best practice.
• Embed alignment across coaches, systems, and principles to create one clear player development model.
• Identify and support emerging talent, with a strong focus on inclusivity and long-term progression.
• Work collaboratively with England Netball and other stakeholders.
Performance Operations & Culture
• Manage performance staff, budgets, schedules, and external consultants.
• Build performance data systems to track and analyse individual and team development.
• Foster a high-performance culture built on values, trust, feedback, and continuous improvement.

Essential Skills & Experience
• Proven leadership in high-performance sport—ideally women’s team sport.
• Experience designing and delivering elite performance programmes.
• Strong expertise in strength and conditioning, with the ability to lead S&C delivery at both team and individual levels.
• Understanding of athlete monitoring tools, physical performance data, and return-to-play processes.
• Deep knowledge of athlete development, sports science, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Exceptional leadership and people management skills—able to build trust and drive standards.
• Deep commitment to player welfare, DEI, and progressive coaching.
• Strategic thinking with the ability to balance immediate performance with long-term sustainability.

Desirable
• Experience within a netball or female performance pathway.
• Familiarity with UK Sport, NGB frameworks, or elite club competition structures.
• Relevant S&C qualifications (e.g., UKSCA, BASES, NSCA) or equivalent applied experience.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, anti-doping, and duty of care standards in elite environments.
