Job Description
Day-to-Day Player & Staff Support
- Provide consistent and approachable welfare support
- Build trust through presence, listening, and reliability
- Support players through injury, personal challenges, and transitions
- Understand the importance of the human touch – time, empathy, and conversation

Athlete Relocation
- Lead relocation for domestic and international players
- Support housing, transport, banking, healthcare, and daily setup
- Support partners and families
- Provide emotional and cultural adjustment support

Wellbeing, Welfare & Education
- Deliver welfare plans aligned with Rugby League Cares
- Support mandatory education requirements
- Encourage balanced routines and personal responsibility

Career & Life Beyond Rugby
- Support career planning and education
- Assist with CVs, pathways, and employment options

Match-Day & Operational Support
- Assist Kit Manager on game days when required
- Provide welfare presence on match day and travel days

Culture & Relationships
- Act as a bridge between players and staff
- Promote a supportive and respectful club culture

Reporting & Professional Standards
- Maintain welfare records
- Uphold safeguarding and confidentiality


Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

Essential:
-Counselling Level 3 (BACP) qualification (or working towards)
-Certificate 4 in elite athlete wellbeing (UK Equivalent) and level 4 in career development
-Experience in working with people in a mentoring counselling or coaching role
-An understanding of the complex issues facing professional athletes relating to career and
personal development
-Ability to communicate and effectively present to individuals and groups at all levels and
ages

Preferred:
-Ability to lead, develop and motivate others
-Demonstrated interpersonal skills with a capacity to build strategic networks
-Background in elite sport with a preference in rugby league
-Experience with online reporting, and intermediate work, excel and PowerPoint skills
