£26,500 - £29,000 Terms
37.5 hours/week

Fixed Term until December 2028 (with opportunity of extension in-line with service contract to 2030)
Location
• Covering Cambridgeshire, with office based in St Ives and delivery in outlined places across the county.
• Hybrid working arrangements, with minimum 2 days a week office based.

Job Purpose
To work with targeted local communities and alongside partner organisations to support people to lead healthier lifestyles as part of the Cambridgeshire Behaviour Change Service. The role will consist of delivering and organise local and sustainable interventions and programmes, in line with Living Sport’s place-based working. With a distinct focus on physical activity, healthy eating and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities
• Develop interventions and programmes that incorporate behaviour-change practices and lifestyle improvements, aligned to the behavioural change service performance measures.
• Coordinate and/or deliver a range of appropriate physical activity, healthy eating and mixed approaches, based on community needs.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with healthy lifestyle professionals, community organisations, sporting bodies, local facility providers and health professionals.
• Support the identification, development, and engagement of individuals and communities in structured and unstructured physical activity, healthy eating, and mixed-activity programmes.
• With the Cambridgeshire Behaviour Change Lead, develop, recognise, and demonstrate a clear understanding of local health needs and inequalities related to physical activity levels and healthy eating habits. Use this insight to inform and shape targeted interventions that improve health outcomes.
• Engage communities in the design and development of activities, providing implementation support and upskilling for sustainability.
• Develop and promote locally relevant healthy lifestyle messages; collaborate with MoreLife (lead provider of the Behaviour Change Service) and place-based teams to support both centralised and local campaigns.
• Provide partnership supervision and coordination for delivery partners.
• Identify, secure, and manage suitable venues for programme delivery.
• Manage and communicate with clients from the Cambridgeshire Behaviour Change Service to identify appropriate interventions for lifestyle improvements.
• Support the collection of baseline, follow up and post programme measures with participants.
• Accurately record, monitor, and analyse data providing insights and recommendations for service improvement.
• Contribute to the production of monthly and quarterly reports on service outputs and outcomes.
• Maintain knowledge of safeguarding and identify and act on concerns in line with Living Sport protocols.
• Prioritise, organise, and manage workload effectively to ensure high-quality service delivery.
• Provide exceptional participant care, demonstrating empathy and professionalism.
• Ensure equality, diversity, and inclusion principles are embedded in planning, delivery, and evaluation, in line with Living Sport’s values and standards.

• Ability to plan and manage own time and workload effectively, adapting activities to meet the varying needs of the local community.
• Able to respond efficiently to referrals in line with agreed service protocols and procedures.
• Strong communication skills, including written, verbal, non-verbal and listening abilities.
• Ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date records to support data collection and monitoring/evaluation requirements.
• Good numeracy and literacy skills.
• Empathetic and able to support participants striving to improve their health and wellbeing.
• Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and target populations.
• Ability to build and maintain partnerships.
• Computer literate.
• Flexible and adaptable approach to work.
• Organisational and planning abilities, with the capacity to prioritise tasks and manage competing deadlines.
• Effective team player, while also able to work independently when engaging with communities.
Knowledge and Experience
• Background experience of physical activity, sport, exercise and nutrition.
• Experience of implementing and delivering structured exercise programmes.
• Experience of working with targeted communities and specialist groups.
• Knowledge of behaviour change and the theoretical principles.
• Knowledge of the determinants of health and health inequalities (Core20PLUS5).
• Awareness of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) physical activity guidelines.
• Awareness of the benefits of healthy lifestyles.
• Managing own workload, to ensure tasks are completed on time and to a high standard.
• Using software systems to document, collate and evidence work.

Education, Qualifications, and Training
• Minimum of level 2 qualification in sports coaching/teaching/instructing in at least one sport/exercise, ideally more.
• It is desirable that the applicant holds a level 3 qualification in Personal Training or Exercise Referral.
• Full UK Driving licence and access to a car for work with business purposes insurance.
• Evidence of a personal commitment to continuing professional development and to maintaining an up-to-date professional knowledge supporting the development of business within the company.

Additional Information
Living Sport operates a hybrid work location policy. There is access to an office every day of the week, or staff can choose to work from home. We also encourage co-location with partners, to build more effective working relationships. There is an expectation that staff travel to the St Ives office at least three times a week including for any team and staff meetings and for other meetings as required.

There will sometimes be a need for travel around the partnership area of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough and wider which will necessitate the postholder having access to suitable transport. If driving oneself, a current valid driving licence and access to a vehicle available for work purposes with business cover insurance is required.
