OVERALL SUMMARY
Lacrosse is a small, but very exciting sport with Olympic recognition in 2028. Lacrosse Scotland is recognised by sportscotland as the sports governing body and part of our strategic plan is to retain and grow participation and membership, build foundations for successful performance, raise the profile of our sport and celebrate the successes of our community at all levels – from grassroots to elite competition.

ROLE OVERVIEW AND SCOPE
We are seeking a creative, proactive, and sport-passionate Social Media Manager to lead our digital presence across all major social platforms. This role will play a central part in increasing visibility, growing engagement, and enhancing the profile of lacrosse in Scotland. The successful candidate will develop and deliver engaging content strategies to showcase players, clubs, competitions, and community initiatives, while also ensuring brand consistency and alignment with our strategic goals.

This role also offers valuable professional development opportunities. The Social Media Manager will gain hands-on experience in marketing, digital communications, and brand promotion within a national sporting environment. It provides a unique chance to develop experience in sports marketing, event promotion, and community engagement, while building transferable skills for a career in sport, marketing, or media.

We are happy to consider and support applicants who are starting to build their career in either sporting or non-sporting sectors or who are students looking to broaden their career pathway.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy & Growth
• Develop, implement, and evaluate a social media strategy aligned with Lacrosse Scotland’s mission and objectives.
• Grow and maintain an engaged audience across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, and emerging channels).
• Track trends in digital communication and explore new opportunities for innovation.

Content Creation & Management
• Plan, create, and schedule high-quality content (graphics, photos, videos, stories, reels, written copy).
• Promote national competitions, grassroots initiatives, player pathways, and representative squads.
• Manage live event coverage (matches, tournaments, and campaigns) to drive real-time engagement.
• Ensure consistency in tone, brand identity, and accessibility across all platforms.

Community Engagement
• Act as the online voice of Lacrosse Scotland, responding to queries, comments, and messages in a timely and professional manner.
• Build strong digital relationships with athletes, clubs, volunteers and stakeholders.
• Champion inclusivity and celebrate diverse voices within the lacrosse community.

Analytics & Reporting
• Monitor performance and provide regular reports on growth, engagement, and reach.
• Use insights to refine strategy and maximise impact.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential Skills & Experience:
• Proven experience managing social media platforms.
• Strong content creation skills, including photography, videography and copywriting.
• Knowledge of social media analytics tools and ability to interpret data into actionable insights.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and balance multiple projects.

Desirable Skills & Experience:
• Experience working within sport, non-profits, or membership organisations.
• Understanding of Scottish sport and/or lacrosse.
• Familiarity with design and editing tools

WHAT WE OFFER
• Opportunity to shape the voice and digital presence of a growing national governing body.
• Flexible working arrangements.
• The chance to work at the heart of Scottish sport, supporting both grassroots development and elite performance.
• A creative, supportive, and inclusive working environment.
