We deliver first class physical education, sports coaching and pupil mentoring for schools in Bath and North East Somerset, Greater Bristol and Wiltshire.Through positive experiences of PE, sport and physical activity, our aim is to engage and inspire as many children as possible to be active, healthy and fulfilled for life.I founded Ignite Sport in November 2024 following a 22-year career in the education, sports coaching and charity sectors. From September 2014 to September 2024, I designed, launched, built and directed Bristol Sport Foundation’s Forever Sport programme from a team of two to a team of over 50 who coach over 8,500 children in nearly 50 school and community settings every week.As Ignite Sport’s first Operations Manager and Head Coach, you will have the opportunity to work closely with the Managing Director to lead and shape the culture, growth and direction of the business.Within the fields of fitness, health, education, sport and physical activity, there isn't a ceiling to what Ignite Sport becomes or delivers. Hard work, commitment and impact will always be recognised and rewarded.Job overviewThe Operations Manager and Head Coach will lead and support in the following key areas:- Operational efficiencies – improve and implement policies, systems, processes and procedures.- Sports coaching – deliver outstanding PE lessons and sports coaching sessions in our partner schools and within community settings.- Building strong relationships & influencing stakeholders - being able to build meaningful relationships with people, gain trust & confidence quickly, and influence positive outcomes is essential.- Delivery standards – provide training, monitoring and support for our coaches to ensure sessions are high quality every time.- Business development – working closely with the Managing Director to identify and execute opportunities to improve, broaden and expand our provision.Responsibilities- Improve and implement policies, systems, processes and procedures to maximise operational efficiencies.- Teach PE in primary schools and coach a variety of sports to children in after school sports club and holiday sports camp settings, focusing on engagement, skill development, teamwork and game understanding.- Day-to-day management of the schools in which you are the head coach.- Work with school staff to build their competence, confidence and motivation to deliver outstanding PE lessons through workshops and team-teaching.- Mentor our sports coaches, helping them to improve their coaching skills, confidence and knowledge.- Help shape a positive work culture whereby the team feel valued, supported and empowered to perform at their best.- Maintain a safe and supportive environment for all participants, ensuring that all activities are fun, engaging and inclusive.- Plan and co-ordinate holiday camps and sports events.Qualifications, skills and experience- Hold a minimum Level 2 National Governing Body coaching qualification or a formal teaching qualification.- A full, clean driving license and your own transport.- The right to work in the UK.- A minimum of three year's experience teaching/coaching primary school-aged children.- Strong interpersonal skills to build successful relationships with participants, school staff, parents and coaches.- Excellent time management, organisational and administration skills- Proficient in Microsoft MS Office: Outlook, Word and Excel.- Ability to create and publish content on social media platforms including Facebook and Instagram.Please note - as this role involves working with children, the successful candidate will require an Enhanced DBS check and a self-declaration form.What success will look like- The Ignite Sport team feel motivated, respected and recognised.- Our partner schools – the children, the staff and the wider school community are very satisfied with the service provided.- All agreed sessions are delivered.- Through accurate pricing and a child-centred approach, our after school sports clubs and holiday sports camps are highly subscribed.- By listening to our partner schools and recognising new business opportunities we achieve a sustainable P&L.- Staff retention is high because the team have autonomy, a sense of belonging and feel competent in their roles.- The team is growing due to the quality of our services and the reputation we establish.- Due to hard work, commitment and impact, the team achieve career progression.- By the end of year one we double the number of partner schools that we are working with.
