Contract type Fixed Term (Part time) Closing date 31 January 2025 Job Description The Histon FC Scholarship is a football education academy based at Long Rd Sixth Form College, Cambridge.The programme is a day-time provision, that allows for our male student athletes to participate in a full-time training/games provision whilst studying for their chosen career path.Due to a change in employment status of our current staff member, we are looking to fill their role of Sport Therapist with immediate effect. The successful applicant will need to be suitably qualified, live locally and be available for the clinic/game sessions that we will need covering.The person fulfilling this role will become a valued member of our team and will lead the current staff with their knowledge & expertise on all prehab/rehab cases.The role is part-time and perfect for anyone passionate in supporting the growth of young student athletes, beginning their journey into Sports Therapy, or that has a flexible working schedule.RESPONSIBILITIES• The welfare of players within our Scholarship.• Providing assessment, treatment and functional rehabilitation of injured players.• Assist with clinical decision-making process (fitness of player to train or play).• Player education (injury prevention). • Communicating the injury status and rehabilitation of players to other medical professionals, coaching staff and parents.• Keeping notes and records on all treatments and advices given. • The Sports Therapist must at all times abide by the SST’s Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics. • Attendance at all stated training sessions and all matches, home and away.PERSONAL SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS• Have a passion for football.• Are enthusiastic and a highly motivated individual.• Sound scientific and practical knowledge of trigger point therapy, myofascial release/anatomy trains and/or other hands-on treatments.• Believe in their work and skills and be happy to work within an interdisciplinary team.• Effective social skills in listening (with the players) to gain trust and also to communicate with players and other staff. • Experience in co-ordinating injured players.• Up-to-date first aid training.• Strive maintain a professional approach to all aspects of work: punctual, reliable and diligent. • Have acquired IT skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically adept with MS Excel and Google Documents.ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS• Physiotherapy/Osteopathy/Sports Rehabilitation or Sports Therapy Degree• An enhanced DBS check.• Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external parties (i.e., coaches, players, parents, external medical contacts etc.)• Ability to work well as part of a multidisciplinary team.• Display a high level of professionalism at all times.• Highly motivated, with a passion for working within a football setting.• Utmost confidentiality at all times. PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS• Pitchside Trauma Qualification, such as ITMMiF/PHICIS/Lubas Sports Trauma • Skilled in manual therapy and exercise prescription.• Previous experience of working in a sporting environment.• MSc or other equivalent post-graduate qualification.• Knowledge of S&C principles.
