Location Richard Meyjes Road, Guildford Surrey, GU2 7AD Contract type Fixed Term (Full time) Closing date 24 October 2025 Job Description The role in brief:The successful candidate will be responsible for the physiotherapy provision at Bishop Wand School and assisting with the Junior Academy program at Harlequins. The role will involve delivering physiotherapy support to both school and club players whilst working closely with the Junior Academy’s multidisciplinary team. The medical services required will include injury management, rehabilitation and injury prevention programmes to support players at both the school and club environment. This is an ideal role for someone looking to develop and progress their career in a professional sporting environment.The Details:• Work on split site delivery and support between Bishop Wand School and Surrey Sports Park, including travel nationally and internationally as required.• During term time medical provision is required across 3 days at Bishop Wand and the remaining contracted hours at Harlequins. • Provide medical cover for School fixtures and Junior Academy Games & Festivals• Report to Head Academy Physiotherapist with key relationships with the Academy Medical and Athletic Performance Team.• Will be required to work some evenings and weekend.• Will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.• Fixed term role until 30 June 2027.The Responsibilities:1. Clinical• Assess, analyse and provide a clinical diagnosis for injured players to determine their need for physiotherapy intervention. • Provide physiotherapy input to ensure players remain available to play to their potential• Manage caseload of players effectively and efficiently. • Maintain patient documentation, records and accurate statistical information to reflect care provided and meet professional standards. • Provide pre-game and pitch-side medical support services at all Junior academy festivals and fixtures. 2. Educational • As a member of the Performance Support team, you will be expected to deliver, and participate in the delivery of role specific CPD.• Demonstrate continuous development of clinical knowledge and skills to ensure delivery of evidence-based, industry leading care in conjunction with CSP and HCPC standards. • Provide educational talks to parents and players at key events throughout the season.3. Communications and Relationships• To communicate and develop effective relationships with all members of the Medical and Athletic Performance Team as well as other members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team.• Work closely with the Academy Doctors, Therapist, Coaches and other support staff to ensure the maintenance and/ or return to fitness of injured players. Also communicating with International medical teams as needed.• Understanding of and commitment to the highest levels of safeguarding to ensure the best and safest environment for our players.The Experience, Qualifications and Skills needed:Essential:• BSc in Physiotherapy or equivalent.• Proactive mindset with the appetite to learn and develop• Demonstrable skills to work well within a multidisciplinary high-performance team environment.• HCPC registered.• Public Liability Insurance• Enhanced DBS check.• Full, clean driving licence.Desirable:• Physiotherapy experience in a sports team environment.• Experience working with junior academy athletes.• An understanding of strength and conditioning/sports science.• Knowledge of, and experience in, testing, profiling, and screening athletic performance qualities of athletes.• Full clean drivers’ licence.• RFU Pre Hospital Immediate Care in Sport (PHICIS) Level 3Key Skills• Proactive mindset with the appetite to learn and develop• Excellent communications skills with the ability to interact effectively within a multidisciplinary team.• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop credible and effective working relationships.• Happy to challenge and have difficult conversations where necessary to drive the best performance outcomes.• Attention to detail and strong organisational skills.• Self-motivated and good energy.• Commitment to continuous personal professional development.Closing date for applications: 24th October 2025.
