Job Description
The Role in brief:
The APRC will play a key role in delivering a best-in-class rehabilitation programme for Harlequins FC senior squad players recovering from injury. Working in close collaboration with the Athletic Performance Rehab Physiotherapist (APRP), the APRC will be responsible for the planning, programming, and the delivery of all gym-based and on-pitch rehabilitation sessions. The role also involves ensuring the seamless reintegration of players into full training and competitive play following the completion of their rehabilitation.

The Details:
• Permanent Contract.
• Based at Surrey Sports Park.
• Reports to the Head of Athletic Development
• Will require evening and weekend working.
• Salary up to £44k dependent on experience.

The Responsibilities:
• In collaboration with the APRP, plan, programme and deliver all gym-based and on-pitch rehabilitation sessions.
• Coordinate effectively with key stakeholders – including the HAP, Head of Medical Services, General Manager, Head Coach, and the wider coaching team – to communicate the status and progress of injured players during their rehabilitation.
• Provide detailed and timely progress reports for all injured senior squad players throughout the rehabilitation process.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of the club’s evidence-informed rehabilitation framework.
• As a senior member of the Performance Team, deliver and oversee role- specific continuing professional development (CPD).
• Support the wider Athletic Performance Team in delivering speed, strength and conditioning sessions as required.
• Participate in match day duties for designated fixtures as part of seasonal team support responsibilities.
• Act as a role model for the Clubs values and culture.

 

The Skills, Experience and Qualifications needed:
The following criteria represent the minimum requirements for the role. Applicants will be asked to demonstrate evidence of these throughout the application process.

• Bachelor’s degree in Strength & Conditioning Science, or a Sport and Exercise-related degree combined with a Master’s in Strength & Conditioning Science.
• A minimum of five years’ full-time experience in professional sport, with at least two years focused on rehabilitation with injured athletes in rugby or a comparable high performance collision sport.
• Proven track record in designing and delivering athletic performance rehabilitation programmes for professional athletes, including managing long-term injuries (over three months).
• In-depth understanding of the physical and positional demands specific to rugby.
• Broad knowledge across all areas of athletic development, including strength, power, speed, conditioning and return-to-play progression.
• Basic medical knowledge (e.g. anatomy, injury physiology).
• Experience in physical testing, profiling and screening of athletes.
• Proficient in using athlete management systems and performance software.
• Highly organised, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to anticipate and plan for various scenarios.
• Flexible and adaptable, capable of modifying training plans daily to meet evolving needs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
• Proven coaching ability across all domains of athletic performance.
• Strong commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with best practices in rehabilitation and performance programming.
