Forwards Coach - Women’s Programme Organisation Harlequin Football Club Ltd Salary £45 000 per annum Location Surrey Sports Park, Guildford, GU2 7AD Contract type Fixed Term (Full time) Closing date 2 May 2025 Interview date 9 May 2025 Job Description The Forwards Coach - Women’s Programme will be responsible for delivering on key area of plays (Lineout, Scrum & Breakdown) to the PWR team. The successful candidate will be a key member ofthe Women’s Programme Coaching team and the overall staffing group.The chosen candidate will have proven experience of delivering forwards coaching in a performance environment with high level technical, tactical and system understanding and expertise in delivering this to a broad mix of players from internationals to those early in their professional rugby career.The Details:• Full Time- will be required to work 3 evenings per week and weekends during the season.• Fixed Term- 2 YearsReporting Relationships:• Reports to Head Coach, with direction also taken from the Head of Women’s Rugby.Duties and responsibilities• Lead on the coaching of forward Play (Lineout & Scrum) and Breakdown for the PWR team.Implementing high quality systems, structures and delivery which aligns with the wider game model.• Support the Head Coach, in the implementation of the wider game model and embedding the Quins style of play.• Support the Head Coach and Head of Women’s Rugby, in delivering a high-quality performance environment and staying true to our culture of performance, care and enjoyment.• Review and preview games for both Harlequins and opposition teams, in order to best prepare both the forwards and wider team.• Assist in the delivery of wider coaching as directed by the Head Coach (squad, small group skills, 1-to-1 sessions).• Assist with the selection of the team and the feedback process to players, as agreed by the Head Coach.• Lead on the IDP process for all Harlequins Women senior forwards and share/discuss this with the required stakeholders, including national team coaches and support staff.• Lead on projects or management areas as agreed with the Head Coach, for example game specific projects.• Work closely with the wider Women’s Programme performance staff including but not limited to – Medical, Athletic Performance, Performance Analysis, Operations and Pathways.• Assist with the recruitment of players as agreed with the Head of Women’s Rugby.• To participate in ad hoc community, media, and commercial appearances.The Skills, Experience and Qualifications needed:• Currently hold the RFU Advanced Coaching Award (Level 3) or higher.• Forwards specialist- Experience of coaching/playing within the forwards to a performance level.• Be able to demonstrate a high-level experience of coaching lineout to a performance standard. With strong technical and tactical understanding around all aspects of lineout delivery.• Be able to demonstrate a high-level experience of coaching scrum and front row to a performance standard. With strong technical and tactical understanding around all aspects of scrum delivery.• Be able to demonstrate detailed tactical and technical knowledge of breakdown.• Be able to demonstrate contribution to wider coaching discussions and general knowledge around all aspects of rugby delivery.• Be able to demonstrate the ability to adjust your coaching style to get the best out of a group of players and find ways to maximise player potential.• Be able to demonstrate a high-level ability to problem solve and respond quickly with technical/tactical solutions during a high-pressure match day environment.• Experience of delivering in a performance environment and experience of coaching performance level players.• Have detailed knowledge and understanding of player development and the issues that can aid or hinder the development process.• Excellent organisation and time management skills.• Knowledge of Domestic, international and pathway women’s rugby.
