Founded in 2002, Greenhouse Sports is dedicated to transforming the lives of young people through the transformative power of sport and mentoring. We work with young people from deprived communities, confronting the harsh realities of child poverty and deprivation—a widespread issue that affects millions across the UK.

As a Coach Mentor, you are embedded in your school like a member of staff, providing daily access to sport all year round. But your role goes far beyond coaching. As inspiring mentors and trusted role models, you are in each young person’s corner, helping them develop vital life skills that extend well beyond the game: social, emotional, thinking, and physical skills (our STEP Curriculum). These skills empower young people to stay engaged in their education, build strong connections, and pave their way to a brighter, better future.

About the role
You will be responsible for creating a meaningful impact on young people’s lives by delivering our evidence-based STEP curriculum built on Positive Youth Development (PYD). You will report to a Coach Development Manager. Their role is to aid you in your personal development as well as our collective coach development programme. You will be expected to report on your participant's development, programme health and safety. You will deliver our year-round, fulltime programme in one of our partner schools, running a multi-component programme.
The programme comprises of sport-based delivery, integrated within PE, clubs before, during, and after school, access to competitive sport fixtures, 1-1/small group mentoring, selected enrichment activities, employability-focused sessions, and holiday camps. Key responsibilities
• Monitor and report the progress of the programme you deliver, understanding its goals and targets, with the strategic vision of the charity.
• Deliver our curriculum based on Positive Youth Development in all sessions, showcasing inclusive environments.
• To build and maintain positive relationships with staff, school staff, young people and their support networks.
• To review and learn with the ability to adapt to the needs of the young people so that we always have the young people’s best interest at heart.
• Work with your Coach Development Manager to review your performance and quality of delivery.
• Complete administrative duties, e.g. coach plans, risk assessments, and HR tasks.
• Demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding our young people, ensuring a child safety-focused approach is at the forefront of delivery.

Experience and Skills – Who you are
• Adaptable and resilient in a dynamic mission-driven environment.
• Minimum of NGB Level 2 coaching qualification.
• Can demonstrate an understanding of child development, Positive Youth Development through sport.
• Collaborative approach with the ability to work well with others.
• Up to date knowledge of Safeguarding & Child Protection principles and good practice.
• Skilled in portraying yourself professionally as a role model and mentor to young people at all times.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to plan, long-term, midterm and short-term.
• Able to remain positive and professional when in challenging situations and environments.
• Can demonstrate and give examples of their own personal and professional development.
