Job Description
Role: Club Inclusion Officer
Organisation: Gloucestershire Cricket Foundation
Contract: Minimum contract, 24 months, 37.5 hours a week
Responsible to: Club Development Manager

Job purpose and focus

Our aim in Gloucestershire is to support clubs and leagues to ensure cricket can grow and sustain for the next generation, in all corners of the county. We want to ensure that anyone, regardless of their protected characteristics, can access our game and say, ‘cricket is a game for me’.

This role has a fantastic opportunity to increase diversity, helping to achieve the England & Wales Cricket Board’s (ECB) and Gloucestershire’s ambition of cricket becoming the most inclusive team sport. This role will specifically work across 3 of the GCF’s main strategic pillars, outlined within our ambitious ‘Inspiring Gloucestershire 2025-29’ strategy:
- ‘Develop a thriving, sustainable, safe and inclusive, recreational game.’
- ‘Accelerate change in women’s and girls’ cricket’.
- ‘Support communities through diverse, inclusive and accessible cricket’.

The main responsibilities of this role with be:
• Develop engaging programmes that target new audiences across Gloucestershire.
• Work with cricket clubs and local leagues to diversify their volunteer base and committees.
• Work with cricket clubs to diversify their playing offer.
• Create innovative programmes and courses, helping to increase the number of diverse coaches, officials and volunteers.
• Work closely with the Club Development Manager to support across wider club development programmes.
• Create ‘District Development Groups’ and support them, in collaboration with the Club Development Manager, through localised events.
• Support the Workforce & Safeguarding Manager to help diversify the ‘Get into Cricket’ cohort.
• Work closely with the Women & Girls Development Manager, to support the growth in the women & girls’ game.
• Deliver training workshops and provide ongoing support to cricket clubs looking to become Disability Champion clubs.
• Deliver training workshops and provide ongoing support to cricket clubs looking to provide a Walking Cricket offer.
• Develop and create case studies of best practice from across the clubs and leagues network.
• Other duties as required by the Line Manager.

• Take part in other activities as and when required.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Essential
 High levels of energy and enthusiasm and the desire to succeed.
 Experience of creating and sustaining strong relationships.

 Good programme management skills and ability to prioritise and work to deadlines.
 Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with a diverse range of people.

 Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
 Excellent administrative skills and evidence of programme work.
 Computer literate and effective user of Word, Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft programmes.
 Safeguarding trained or, commitment to achieving this within a short period of time.
 First Aid trained or, a commitment to achieving this within a short period of time.
 ECB DBS checked or, a commitment to achieving this within a short period of time.
 Ability to travel independently between sites (Full and valid driving license).
 Willingness to work ‘unsocial’ hours, including evenings and weekends.

Desirable
 Experience of working within Sports Development/ administration with recreational sports clubs.
 Good knowledge of GCF programmes of work.
 Good knowledge of the cricket landscape within Gloucestershire
 Experience of volunteering for a recreational sport club.
 Experience of monitoring and evaluating the impact of programmes.
 Good knowledge of cricket specific digital platforms.
 Be competent on social media and understand the importance of marketing to increase exposure.

Supervision and work planning

The Club Inclusion Officer will be employed by Gloucestershire Cricket Foundation and line managed by the Club Development Manager. The Officer will work across the County of Gloucestershire and the City of Bristol and will have their office at The Seat Unique Stadium, Nevil Road, Bristol, BS7 9EJ.

The employee’s normal working days will be Monday-Friday and will normally be expected to complete at least 37.5 hours in a week. The employee will not normally be required to work before 9am, however, due to the nature of the work involved in this position, the employee will be required to work some evenings and possibly weekends. The post holder will be required to carry out their duties at such times and on such days that are the most effective to perform the responsibilities of the position.
