Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Medical Team at Gloucester Hartpury Rugby. We are seeking a passionate, motivated and skilled therapist to join our performance team, looking after the players within the club, while maintaining good character, teamwork and positively adding to a cohesive performance and coaching staff group.

Key Accountabilities

• Actively contribute to Gloucester Hartpury medical department, remaining dynamic in your development, and supporting the development of those around you.
• Uphold high standards of clinical practice and maintain continuous professional development (CPD) as outlined by your professional body.
• Be respectful to colleagues, whilst challenging each other in a constructive way keeping the player and Gloucester Hartpury at the forefront of all decisions.
• Be an excellent communicator with your peers and line manager, ensuring all lines of communication are adhered to with accurate and timely information relevant (but not limited to) players under your care.
• Have excellent time management skills, following the team and medical team schedule.
• Adhere to the “GH Way”, upholding the ethos of Gloucester Hartpury and the standards we, as a whole club, hold ourselves too.
• Contribute to a positive club culture and align to standards set out by the senior management.
• When required, in the absence of the HoM, assist in the running of the medical department as outlined by the HoM
• Manage a caseload of players (as listed by the HoM) with high standards of care and professionalism whilst building and maintaining exceptional relationships, based on trust, honesty and integrity. (Including, but not limited to Senior full-time athletes, dual career athletes, Trialists, U23 players and pathway ‘Next Generation’ players.)
• If required, communicate and work seamlessly with international medical and performance teams, for players under your care.
• Implement well structured, research supported, personalised rehabilitation plans for injured players on your caseload.
• Implement well structured, research supported, personalised injury prevention plans for your caseload.
• Build excellent working relationships with all members of the medical, performance and coaching staff to ensure high standards of athletic development and return to play.
• Complete medical and athletic performance screening in line with the Gloucester Hartpury performance team screening strategy.
• Contribute enthusiastically to the Gloucester Hartpury Medical and Athletic Performance Team CPD program. Where appropriate, extend this contribution to the CPD program within Gloucester Rugby and Hartpury University and College.
• Where directed, mentor and support pathway (Hartpury College & University BUCS & ACE) therapists, to support the management of players highlighted by Gloucester Hartpury as the ‘next generation’ of Gloucester Hartpury players.
• Where applicable, mentor and support therapy students within the Gloucester Hartpury medical team.
• Provide senior training and match day cover alongside other members of the medical team as per the medical Rota (including but not limited to senior squad PWR, PWR Cup, and on occasion be available to support the link Gloucester Hartpury have with Hartpury College & University Women’s Rugby teams)
• As per the medical team Rota, cover matches as a ‘Video Review’ for senior team games (including but not limited to senior squad PWR and the PWR Cup)
• As instructed, support the HoM, and the rest of the medical team to complete concussion testing, medical entries, and other tasks related to the role.
• As requested, support the HoM, and the rest of the medical team in the day-to-day running of the medical team (i.e. including but not limited to, tracking and ordering medical consumables, pitch side cover of training, game day logistics, medical support for gym sessions, and attending performance staff meetings).
• Complete and maintain high standards of medical documentation in line with professional body regulations using the league implemented notes system and be willing to be audited at different points during the season as per the leagues ‘Minimum Operating Standards’.

Qualifications, Experience & Knowledge
Essential
• BSc. (or equivalent) in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy or Sport Rehabilitation.
• Membership to a relevant professional body which holds appropriate professional indemnity insurance covering the care of professional rugby players.
• Current and up to date qualification in Pre-Hospital Immediate Care in Sport – Level 2 or Level 3 (or equivalent) OR the willingness to complete.
• Be a good character, with a strong commitment to learn and to assist in the development of others.
• >2 years’ experience working in elite level sport as a physiotherapist, Graduate Sports Therapist or Graduate Sports Rehabilitator.

Desirable
• Previous experience working with female athletes
• Post-graduate qualification in a relevant field (e.g. Advanced Practice Techniques, Mentorship, MSc. Sports Physiotherapy/ MSc. Sport & Exercise Medicine).
