The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for Sport Competition Coordinator- Judo to join our Sport team at Glasgow 2026. This is your chance to play a pivotal role in delivering a world-class competition, supporting the planning and delivery of your assigned sport as part of the Commonwealth Games.

As Sport Competition Coordinator -Judo, you’ll be at the heart of the action, gaining hands on experience in delivering a major international event. You will work closely with the Sport Competition Manager to plan, prepare, and deliver all aspects of your sport’s competition and training environments. Your responsibilities will include developing key documentation, coordinating logistics, supporting venue operations, and liaising with stakeholders such as International Federations, National Governing Bodies, and internal departments. With a strong focus on the needs of athletes, technical officials, and volunteers, you will help ensure the competition is delivered in line with the rules and regulations set by the International Federation.

Job Summary: 

In this role, you’ll support the Sport Competition Manager with the development and delivery of the sport’s operational plans – from managing logistics for Federation site visits to drafting technical documents and coordinating volunteer recruitment and training.

You will represent the sport in cross-functional meetings, maintain up-to-date planning materials, and work collaboratively with other departments to ensure all sport specific needs are met. Your ability to build effective working relationships with key partners will be crucial to the success of the competition.

At Games Time (July–August 2026), you will help manage competition and training venue operations, oversee specific sport areas, brief and support volunteers, and work with internal teams to ensure that planning translates to flawless execution.

This role requires flexibility, particularly in the lead-up to and during Games Time, with evening and weekend work expected as needed.

Key Skills and Experience: 

The ideal candidate will bring experience working within sport administration, sport events, or a similar field, complemented by sport-related and/or event-related training or qualifications. You’ll likely have participated in competitive sport, whether as an athlete, coach, technical official, or volunteer, and will have a strong understanding of the rules and regulations that govern sporting competition. You should be IT-literate, confident using Microsoft Office, and familiar with sports competition management systems.

A genuine enthusiasm and passion for sport is essential, along with a strong desire to pursue a career in the sector. You’ll be committed to learning and professional development, with excellent planning and organisational skills, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
