The Role As Senior Finance Business Partner, you will play a critical role in supporting strategic financial decision-making and driving financial discipline across Glasgow 2026. Acting as the primary financial contact for a portfolio of departments, you will provide high-quality advice, insight, and oversight to ensure budgets are well-managed, contracts deliver value for money, and operational delivery remains on track.This is a senior, hands-on role that combines operational knowledge with commercial acumen and the ability to influence stakeholders. You will constructively challenge delivery assumptions, help manage financial risk, and champion strong financial controls across all areas of responsibility.This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute your expertise to a world-class major event with national significance — combining high-impact finance leadership with a legacy-driven purpose.Job Summary: In this role, you will lead the finance relationship with a portfolio of key functional areas, acting as their trusted advisor and supporting them with planning, delivery, and reporting. You will lead the development, monitoring, and reforecasting of departmental budgets, ensuring alignment with operational plans and organisational priorities.You will provide regular, insightful financial reporting, including variance analysis, forecast updates, and committed spend tracking. Your work will ensure compliance with financial policies, delegated authorities, and procurement rules.You will play a central role in the financial evaluation and scoring of procurement tenders, working closely with the Procurement team to achieve value for money. You will track financial performance and risk exposure across contracts and lead financial input into change control processes.In addition, you will present financial updates and risks to senior management, identify improvement opportunities, and contribute to strategic planning, scenario modelling, and Games-time readiness reporting.Throughout, you will support the wider Finance team in process improvements and help embed a culture of accountability and strong financial management.Responsibilities of this role will evolve as the Games approach, and you will need to adapt to the changing needs of Games planning.Key Skills and Experience: To succeed in this role, you will bring significant experience in senior financial management, business partnering, or FP&A roles, along with a strong background in budgeting, forecasting, financial control, and commercial finance.You will have a proven ability to influence, support, and constructively challenge senior operational stakeholders, and experience overseeing financial aspects of procurement activity, including tender evaluation. A strong understanding of contract management, change control, and financial governance is essential.You will have excellent financial modelling and analysis skills, a track record of supporting strategic planning and scenario analysis, and confidence in using financial systems and data.It would be an advantage if you have experience in a Games, major event, or large-scale project delivery environment, familiarity with governance and assurance processes, and experience liaising with external auditors.
