The RoleThe Sport Equipment Manager is responsible for planning, procuring, coordinating, and delivering all competition and training venue equipment across 10 sports at the Games – including integrated Para sport disciplines. Working closely with Sport Competition Managers, International Federations (IFs), National Governing Bodies (NGBs), Logistics, Technology, Sustainability, and Venue Operations, this role will ensure that all equipment is sourced, transported, installed, and removed efficiently, accurately, and on time.You’ll develop a comprehensive inventory of sport-specific equipment, oversee warehousing and logistics, and work with suppliers and partners to ensure everything from shot clocks to starting blocks arrives in perfect condition. You’ll also play a central role in the Games’ readiness programme, contributing to test events, simulations, and operational documentation.This role requires a mix of technical expertise, practical problem-solving, and strong project leadership – all while keeping athlete experience, accessibility, and sustainability at the heart of delivery.Job Summary: As Sport Equipment Manager, you’ll lead the end-to-end equipment journey – from pre-Games planning through to decommissioning and post-Games legacy. Working across internal Functional Areas and external delivery partners, you’ll ensure all sport equipment is delivered in line with International Federation specifications, athlete expectations, and venue capabilities.Your focus will include developing and maintaining a Games-wide equipment inventory, capturing procurement specifications and technical documentation, and ensuring all items are correctly catalogued and tracked. You’ll liaise with Procurement and Finance teams to source and contract suppliers in line with Glasgow 2026’s sustainability and value-for-money principles, while collaborating closely with Logistics and Transport to manage warehousing, delivery schedules, site access, and real-time tracking across all venues.You’ll oversee the installation, testing, and readiness of all equipment in both competition and training settings, ensuring everything is in place and fully operational ahead of each event. During Games-time, you’ll support real-time contingency planning and issue resolution, maintaining operational excellence in dynamic environments.In addition, you’ll provide leadership and clear direction to temporary staff, contractors, and volunteers who support equipment operations, helping to build a capable and confident team on the ground. Your success will be measured by the smooth delivery of sport equipment services, positive feedback from stakeholders, and the creation of a high-performance environment that enables athletes and officials to perform at their best.Key Skills and Experience: You’ll be an experienced operator with a strong background in managing complex sport equipment programmes, ideally within a major events or multi-sport environment. With a blend of technical confidence, meticulous attention to detail, and a collaborative approach, you’ll be adept at working across teams and resolving issues calmly under pressure.Your track record will include managing sport equipment logistics, planning, and delivery for a major event or championship, with a clear understanding of international federation equipment specifications across a wide range of Olympic and Commonwealth disciplines. You’ll bring excellent project management capability—covering procurement processes, budgeting, risk management, and cross-functional coordination—alongside the ability to maintain strong working relationships with sport organisations, venue teams, logistics providers, and specialist suppliers.You’ll be familiar with equipment tracking, asset tagging, and inventory systems, and you’ll bring a proactive, solutions-focused mindset to your day-to-day work. You’ll understand how to adapt quickly when plans change and remain composed when unexpected issues arise.
