Job Description
The role offers an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Strength & Conditioning coach, where you will use your expertise to develop athletes with elite physical profiles to maximise their performance in training and competitions.

Responsible to: Athlete Health Lead
Length of term: Fixed term role until 30th September 2026. The position will be reviewed in October 2026
Position type: Contractor
Location: Remote Delivery and on-site sessions in Loughborough when requested.
Suggested hours: 10 hours a month, reduced to 7 hours a month after the first 3 months (Date TBC once appointed).
Key Relationships: Athlete Health Lead, Performance Director, Head Coaches, Performance Support Team.

This role will provide highly specialised S&C support services to our Great Britain flag players in the lead up to LA 2028 and beyond.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
This role description is not to be regarded as exclusive or exhaustive. It is intended as an outline indication of the areas of activity and will be amended in the light of the changing needs of the British American Football Association National Programme.
• Collaborate with the team Head Coaches, Performance Director and support staff on periodised planning to deliver an interdisciplinary approach to performance development, injury risk mitigation, and robustness.
• Identify, implement and facilitate appropriate communication methods, including workshops, to inform and educate athletes in the effective use of S&C.
• Maintain a comprehensive, indexed database of work.
• In partnership with the performance support team, develop and deliver bespoke rehabilitation programmes to athletes returning from injury or illness.
• Assist in the delivery of physical preparation and prepare competition durable teams that can sustain high performance.
• Attend, contribute to and provide regular reports at appropriate meetings associated with the programmes.
• Reports to be provided within stakeholder deadlines.
• Work within the rules of professional confidentiality, liaise with athletes, coaches and other support staff as appropriate within the rules of the UKSCA Code of Conduct, standards and guidelines, or equivalent.
• Have a willingness to engage with and support continuous professional development in anti-doping, i.e. UKAD Introduction to Clean Sport.
• Protect confidential information and adhere to BAFA policies.
• Abide by and promote sound ethics and BAFA National Programme policy, regarding equality, safeguarding, and health and safety to all persons involved with the team.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree (or equivalent) in S&C, exercise physiology, or sports science, specialising in physical preparation of elite athletes, with relevant insurance.
- Substantial experience of providing S&C services (including coaching) to athletes and coaches to improve performance. This experience should include work with national teams and their athletes.
- Experience of analysing the demands of a sport in relation to the performance outcomes and identifying the S&C requirements.
- Proven ability to design and deliver highly effective and personalised training programmes based on the scientific principles of skill acquisition.
- Experience in successfully transferring and applying skills and knowledge from one field to another to create customised development plans.
- Demonstrable knowledge of female physiology with proven ability to design and adapt S&C programmes that account for factors such as the menstrual cycle, hormonal fluctuations, and typical female injury trends.
- Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of S&C services to high performance sport.
