We help to improve physical and mental wellbeing and to build skills, confidence, and community, focusing on three areas: • Accessible Rowing - opening up access to the Thames for people with disabilities, to enjoy adaptive rowing and environmental activities• Youth Development - providing subsidised rowing for state schools, free water-sports weeks for disadvantaged children in the school holidays, and junior squad bursaries • Reducing Reoffending - delivering land rowing and coaching programmes for serving and former prisoners, to support rehabilitation and pathways to employment post-release.FRBC also has a thriving adult and youth rowing membership, many of whom volunteer to support our social impact programmes, and is a leader in Environmental Action on the London Tideway, conducting weekly water-quality testing and regular river clean-ups. Following a successful pilot last year of accessible rowing for the visually impaired, we were delighted to be awarded a three-year grant from the National Lottery Community Fund to expand our programme to participants with a range of disabilities. Now just over 10 years old, we have grown significantly in membership, participation, fund-raising and social impact.
