Job Description
ROLE PURPOSE

The Women’s National Team Sport Scientist will work with the lead Physical Performance Coach to support the delivery of world-class physical preparation for the Cymru Women’s National Team. This full-time role will have key responsibilities in the planning, preparation, and delivery of international windows, utilising their sport science experience to work collaboratively with team operations, medical, and technical staff at the direction of the WNT Head Coach.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding in the management and visualisation of physical performance data, including physical testing data and training/match GPS data. This role will be responsible for building and maintaining data solutions to visualise & communicate physical testing, training load, and match performance data across the W&G pathway


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Build and maintain data solutions to analyse physical testing, training load, and match performance data across the W&G pathway.
- Attend all women’s senior international camps, and age-groups international camps where required.
- Design and deliver evidence-based physical performance sessions with WNT players as agreed with the Lead Physical Performance Coach.
- Collect and collate physical performance data on camp to support the delivery of sessions and maximise player performance and availability.
- Work with the Lead PPC to ensure an evidence-based physical plan is in place for each camp that enables WNT players to perform at their best.
- Monitor player club appearances and ensure clear communication of player status between the medical-performance MDT and the Head Coach.
- Liaise with Nutritionist and Chef to draft and communicate performance-focused menu.
- Procure and manage inventory of specialist equipment & nutritional supplements.
- Support team operations staff with physical performance elements of camp preparation/delivery (including advance site visits, itinerary drafting, liaise with hotels/training venues, pre-camp setup and post-camp pack out).

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualifications and Experience

Degree level educated in Sport and Exercise Science or related subject.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in elite women’s football (international or professional)

Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours

High-level understanding of physical performance benchmarking in elite women’s football
Understanding of physical testing procedures using such technology as VALD.
Understanding of GPS benchmarking and monitoring tailing load and volume and providing real time feedback to technical staff.
Experience using Microsoft data management & visualisation platforms (e.g. PowerBI) to develop tools to analyse and communicate player performance.
Able to communicate clearly and effectively with players and staff at all levels, with absolute discretion.
Committed, enthusiastic and passionate about the athletic development of professional female football players.


Role Specific Information

The post holder will be required at times to perform their duties or additional work or attend training outside of normal office hours including all Women's National Team camps.
The appointment of the successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
