Independent Members - Strategic Advisory Committee Organisation Football Association of Wales Salary Voluntary position (expenses only) Location Flexible Contract type Volunteer Closing date 10 October 2025 Interview date 17 October 2025 Job Description Position OverviewThe purpose of this Advisory Committee is to provide advice and oversight in the strategic direction of the Football Association of WalesCommittee Terms of ReferenceTo provide expert advice on strategy development, long-term strategic planning and decision-making;To share historical insights and knowledge to inform current challenges and opportunities; To provide counsel, support and critical feedback to the Association’s executive on key issues;Oversight of the delivery of the High-Performance Strategy;To receive key updates from the Chief Executive Officer and wider executive staff as well as international team coaches; andKey Responsibilities- Advice and guidance - Provide expert advice and recommendations on areas of expertise.- Strategic direction - Provide insight to FAW staff on the strategic direction for the organisation.- Constructive challenge - Provide the right degree of constructive challenge to the FAW staff teams, contributing to the FAW’s strategic direction.- Collaboration - Work collaboratively with other committee members, FAW staff, and external stakeholders to oversee the effective delivery of the FAW strategies. - Monitoring and Evaluation - Assist in the monitoring and evaluation of FAW strategic aims to ensure they meet their objectives.Person SpecificationExperienceThe experience we would like our committee member to have includes:Experience serving on public, private, or not-for-profit boards or senior committeesProven track record of providing efficient and effective strategic leadershipDemonstrable experience working with and promoting adherence to good governance principles and practices.Significant experience fostering a culture that actively promotes equality, diversity and inclusion, Experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating strategic or development plans, Experience in a technical role within elite sport would be advantageousKnowledge and SkillsThe knowledge and skills we would like from our committee members includes:Knowledge of the wider sporting and political landscape in Wales.Skilled in strategic thinking with a keen awareness of the operational realities of the delivery of football across all levels of the game. Effective communicator, capable of engaging confidently with diverse audiences and promoting the committee’s objectives clearly and persuasively.Familiarity with policies and practices that support safeguarding and equality.
