Job Description
Who are we: Everton Football Club is one of world sport's most respected and revered names - a by-word for innovation, professionalism and community.

During the course of a glittering history spanning three centuries, we have been shaped and guided by our aspirational motto Nil Satis Nisi Optimum - nothing but the best is good enough.

One of only three clubs to have been a founder member of both the Football League and Premier League, our Men’s Senior Team has played more games in English football's top-flight than any other, winning nine league titles, five FA Cups and a European Cup Winners’ Cup.

In summer 2025, we embarked on an exciting new journey at Hill Dickinson Stadium, a world-class waterfront arena on the banks of Liverpool’s iconic River Mersey. The newest, most sustainable and most accessible stadium in the Premier League, our new home is also a state-of-the-art 365-venue for non-footballing events and conferences.

On the pitch, we remain committed to developing and supporting teams across our Men’s, Women’s and Academy set-ups that inspire, bring pride and continue to compete at the highest level of the game.

About the opportunity: We are seeking a highly motivated and technically strong Financial Accountant to join our Finance team based in our Head Quarters in Liverpool.

As Financial Accountant, you will play a central role in delivering high-quality financial reporting and maintaining strong financial governance across the Club and its related entities. The role will involve close collaboration with internal stakeholders, auditors, lenders and football regulatory bodies, including the Premier League and UEFA.

Other key responsibilities include:

Preparation of statutory financial accounts for the Group in line with relevant accounting standards.
Supporting the delivery of key external reporting requirements and year-end reporting processes.
Ensuring compliance with football regulatory and financial reporting obligations.
Assisting with lender and financing covenant reporting requirements.
Managing and coordinating the external audit process across Group entities.
Supporting the continuous improvement of financial controls, reporting processes and governance frameworks.
Partnering with key stakeholders across the Club to provide technical accounting guidance and financial insight.
Contributing to ad hoc financial projects and strategic initiatives as required.
This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified accountant to contribute to the financial integrity and strategic development of a leading Premier League football club.

Who we’re looking for: We are looking for a technically strong and commercially aware finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

You will demonstrate:

Strong technical financial accounting knowledge, including statutory reporting under IFRS and/or UK GAAP.
Proven experience preparing statutory financial statements and managing external audits.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver work to tight deadlines.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting systems.
Qualifications & Experience

Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent).
Previous experience within a group finance or financial accounting role.
Experience working within a complex or multi-entity environment is desirable.
Knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements within professional sport or highly regulated industries would be advantageous.
The role is permanent and will be based at our Head Quarters in Liverpool in the world-famous Royal Liver Building, working 35 hours per week Monday to Friday.

The closing date of this advert is Friday 22nd May 2026.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early should we receive a substantial amount of applications.
