Job Description
About England Students Rugby: England Students Rugby provides a unique platform for talented university rugby
players to represent their country. The programme focuses on developing the next generation of rugby talent
while supporting their academic pursuits. We foster a high-performance environment built on teamwork,
discipline, respect and a passion for the game.
The Opportunity: The SRFU are seeking a committed and experienced physiotherapist to work as part of a multi
disciplinary team and serve as Volunteer Physiotherapist for the England Students Women’s squad.
This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to a national representative programme, supporting player welfare
and performance within a high-performance camp and match environment.
The Physiotherapist plays a key role in delivering hands-on clinical care, supporting injury management and
rehabilitation, and contributing to safe return-to-play decisions as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
• Pitch-side Medical Support:
Provide pitch-side physiotherapy support during training sessions and matches, including immediate assessment and management of injuries in collaboration with the Team Doctor.
• Injury Management and Rehabilitation:
Assess, treat and manage a range of rugby-related injuries, delivering appropriate rehabilitation strategies within a short-term camp environment.
• Return-to-Play Support:
Contribute to return-to-play decisions alongside the Team Doctor and wider MDT, ensuring player welfare is prioritised at all times.
• Player Health and Performance Support:
Deliver physiotherapy support to players throughout camp, including treatment, recovery strategies, load management advice and injury prevention support.
• Collaboration:
Work closely with the Team Doctor, coaching staff, strength and conditioning coach and team management to ensure an integrated approach to player care, including supporting warm-up, recovery and best practice preparation.
• Medical Records and Handover:
Maintain appropriate medical records and contribute to clear handovers of injuries and ongoing management plans back to players’ university environments at the end of camp.
• Equipment and Preparation:
Ensure appropriate physiotherapy equipment and supplies are ordered and available.
• Safeguarding: Adhere to all RFU safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the welfare and protection of all players.
• Culture and Values:
Act as an ambassador for the programme, promoting and role modelling the core values.

Skills and Experience:
Essential:
• Degree or equivalent in physiotherapy.
• Previous post graduate Sports Physiotherapy experience/evidence of being able to work independently in a Sports Physiotherapy setting.
• Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) Membership.
• Current Level 3 Pre-Hospital Immediate Care in Sport accreditation (or equivalent).
• Demonstrable experience of providing physiotherapy support within a performance rugby environment over the last 2 years.
• Evidence of continued professional development relevant to Sport and Exercise Medicine.
• A range of diverse advanced clinical skills.
• Committed to actively contributing and building an inclusive culture to guide your day-to-day decisions, actions and interactions.
Desirable:
• Master’s degree or equivalent in Physiotherapy, Sports Medicine, or a related field
• Experience of self-directed work and working as part of a travelling sports team
• Understanding of and experience in applying appropriate medical ethics in a performance sport environment
• Experience working with performance female athletes
• Experience working with university athletes


The role requires full availability to attend and support a residential training camp and fixture: England Students Women – Monday 6 July to Sunday 12 July 2026 (09:00 release)
