Non Executive Director - EHA Board - Handball Expertise Organisation England Handball Association Salary Voluntary Location Home Based with Occasional Travel Contract type Volunteer Closing date 16 June 2025 Job Description Your main duties will be as followsStrategic Direction:Directors must ensure that the England Handball Association has a clear vision, mission and strategic direction and is focused on achieving these. This includes oversight of operational plans and budgets with regular review of the environment and the services it provides. Directors will also ensure the views of members and other stakeholders are regularly sought and considered.Performance management:Directors are responsible for the performance of England Handball Association, for its impact upon stakeholders and for its corporate behaviour. This involves regular review of progress towards strategic objectives as well as the recruitment, management and development of staff and volunteers to implement the operational plan.Compliance:Directors must ensure that the England Handball Association complies with all legal and regulatory requirements including statutory duties contained in the Companies Act (2006), Equality Act (2010) and other relevant legislation.Prudent management of assets:Directors must be stewards of the England Handball Association’s assets, both tangible and intangible. To achieve this, they must ensure that the England Handball Association’s financial obligations are met and that there are adequate financial controls in place to ensure all money due is received and properly applied. Directors are accountable for the solvency of the England Handball Association and will ensure there is a revenue-generation strategy in place.Good governance:Directors must ensure that the England Handball Association’s governance is of the highest possible standard. As an NGB funded by Sport England, the England Handball Association must meet the Tier 3 requirements set out in the Code for Sports Governance as well as the policies, rules and regulations established by the International Handball Federation. To achieve this, Directors must ensure that the England Handball Association has a governance structure that is appropriate to its vision, strategy and operational complexity, and which reflects the diversity of the community it serves. Directors must ensure that decisions made by the Board follow proper procedures, are supported by sufficient high-quality information and are robust and defensible. The Board will regularly review its own performance and compliance with relevant governance codes.
