Job Description
Purpose of the Role:

The role involves supporting the development of talented junior golfers alongside our regional coaches, providing a great chance to make an impact in the game through a rewarding volunteer position. The south region comprises the geographical area of Hampshire, I.o.W, C.I’s and Surrey.

Key Responsibilities:

The focus of the role will be to assist the regional coach with the delivery of the regional coaching programme and to successfully manage and mentor the players to give them the best environment for their golf development. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing an Under-18 squad based within the South region, delivering training across the designated geographical area. Working closely with the Regional Golf Coach and the Regional Strength & Conditioning Coach, you will play a key role in the development of the South squad. The role will require attendance at squad coaching days, primarily during the winter months, as well as participation in the England Golf Performance Conference, coach and manager education days, and relevant team meetings. You will also be expected to attend tournaments throughout the competitive season. The overall time commitment for this role is approximately 30 days per year.

Skills and Knowledge:

• Enthusiastic, personable and committed;

• Excellent communication skills;

• Sound management skills;

• Able to inspire and motivate junior golfers;

• Dedicated to supporting junior golf development;

• A working knowledge of elite junior golf / or a willingness to learn.

England Golf Safeguarding and Protecting Children Requirements

This role has been identified as involving access to vulnerable adults and/or children and in line with England Golf policy persons undertaking this role will be required to undertake a Disclosure & Barring Service Disclosure Check and must also have attended a Safeguarding and Protecting Children course (SPC) or be willing to undertake one with UK Coaching. As the national governing body for amateur golf, we work at the heart of golf in England, supporting and empowering a thriving community of players, counties and clubs to get the most out of the game we love.
