Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Manager
Home Working (Travel where required)
28 hours per week (4 days a week)
Circa £28,000 per annum (£35,000 FTE)


England Athletics is the membership and development body for athletics and running in England. We work in partnership with the wider athletics family, especially our member clubs and bodies, UK Athletics, Sport England & commercial partners, to grow opportunities for everyone to experience our sport and to enable them to reach their full potential. England Athletics also provides national-level competition and is responsible for athlete development beneath world-class performance levels.

England Athletics is a membership organisation with c1,928 member clubs/bodies and c176,000 registered athletes, which exists to provide services and support to its members and to promote and deliver athletics and running activities across all ages, event disciplines, ability levels and aspirations and to give support to the wider sport where there are more than 6m who run each month in England, 2,251 licensed road races and 244,050 active RunTogether participants operating in more than 3,439 groups.

We want to inspire more athletes and runners of all abilities and backgrounds to fulfil their potential and to have a lifelong love of the sport. It is our vision for athletics to become an inclusive sport where everyone belongs and can flourish. We want every participant involved in our sport, whether they are an athlete, runner, coach, official, leader, volunteer, facility operator, parent, or guardian to see and experience first-hand the guiding principles that continue to drive our work – including putting the athlete and runner first, encouraging high standards and ethical success across all aspects of our work, enhancing experiences, and working together in partnership not in isolation.

The Role:

A vacancy has arisen at England Athletics for an Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Manager, on a permanent basis. The role will be a key in leading the organisation in the EDI area of work by informing, and influencing policy and programme design, and the wider sport in achieving its vision ‘for athletes to become an inclusive sport where everyone belongs and can flourish’

Working at a strategic and operational level, the ED &I Manager will take the lead on delivering the Diversity & Inclusion Action Plan, providing regular updates and reports to the England Athletics Board and Sport England, as required.

Regular interaction through inter-departmental working, Board, England Council, and member Clubs engaged with the ongoing development of the sport and its athletes and runners is imperative

The postholder will be responsible for, but not limited to:

• Lead and champion the EA Diversity Action Plan across the organisation and wider sport.
• Offer guidance to the Board, England Council, and Senior Management Team on how to reach, engage and influence people from underrepresented groups as participants and in the core governance structure of England Athletics, ensuring full cascade of priorities and targets to all work programmes.
• To manage ongoing relationships and strategic plan delivery with relevant partner organisations and other key national stakeholders such as MIND, Sporting Equals, Women in Sport, Activity Alliance, Sport England, and other partner bodies working in the EDI space.
• To lead the England Athletics Culture & Wellbeing Group.
• To support EA colleagues to understand and drive forward this area of work, through the delivery of support, programmes, education/training, and services to member clubs & organisations, coaches, officials and through our participation offers.
