Project officer - Strategy, Performance and Operations Organisation England & Wales Cricket Board Salary Competitive Location England and Wales Contract type Permanent (Full time) Closing date 26 September 2025 Job Description PURPOSE OF THE ROLE As a Project Officer, you will collaborate with all members of the cricket regulator, as well as other colleagues within the ECB, to focus on the strategic priorities and key deliverables outlined in the cricket regulator strategy. Your role will involve supporting the functions and processes related to the delivery, monitoring, and evaluation of development projects across the regulator. There will be an emphasis on stakeholder engagement to make the changes as successful as possible so you should have great communication skills and enjoy working with others. WHO WE ARE Established in December 2023, the Cricket Regulator was set up to be the ring-fenced executive team responsible for ensuring effective education programmes are in place; to operate best practice monitoring, intelligence, and compliance programmes; to investigate alleged breaches, and to prosecute cases where considered appropriate.The Cricket Regulator focuses on Anti-Corruption, Anti-Discrimination, Anti-Doping, Safeguarding, General Misconduct, and Agency activity in the professional game, as well as other designated levels of organised cricket. Safeguarding and Anti-Discrimination also involves working with other organisations across the recreational game. The Cricket Regulator also ensures cricket in England and Wales meets the regulatory requirements of the International Cricket Council, and also playing a lead role in combatting global threats.The roles and responsibilities of the Cricket Regulator were previously carried out by an ECB team. An objective in the creation of the Cricket Regulator was to create greater assurance around the separation between regulatory functions and the remainder of the ECB activities. THE ECBThe England and Wales Cricket Board is the national governing body for cricket in England and Wales, supporting the game at every level, covering the recreational and professional games. The goal of the ECB is for cricket to be the most inclusive team sport, through delivering the Inspiring Generations strategy and fulfilling the ECB purpose to connect communities and improve lives through cricket.The ECB Board has the power to set standards in relation to on and off field activity and does so through regulations. The ECB General Counsel has executive responsibility for the ECB regulations, reporting to the ECB Chief Executive. All proposed regulation must be scrutinised by the Regulatory Board, who advise the ECB Board. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING Support the delivery of the Cricket Regulator Implementation Plan in line with the Cricket Regulator strategy. Provide Project planning and support across all 3 functions of the Cricket Regulator based on the priorities of the department. Work alongside Education and Support colleagues on implementing safeguarding standards, recreational discipline support and anti-discrimination focused projects. Advise internal partners on the delivery of their Cricket Regulator responsibilities. Lead the campaign’s component of our strategy, ensuring we provide a package of resources and communications which looks to raise the profile of the regulator across identified groups. Support the Cricket Regulator team in embedding safe sport considerations across ECB’s digital platforms. Using your attention to detail, communication, and organisational skills to build trust and maintain effective working relationships across the organisation To maintain and develop knowledge and skills relevant for the position of Project Officer through regular training and professional development. Undertaking other tasks as may be required to ensure the effective running of the cricket regulator. YOU’LL HAVEThe right to work in the UK.A specialist qualification in either project management, or the equivalent practical experience. Experience of collaborative, cross-function team working and establishing business planning processes Well organised with good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to follow processes and a strong attention to detail Clear understanding of risk management and compliance requirements for areas of risk. Effective stakeholder management, both internally and external to the organisation, including the ability to successfully persuade and influence others. The ability to effectively deliver training/presentations to a diverse range of audiences. Ability to develop relationships and networks with a range of stakeholders and communicate effectively across teams.
