Job Description
Dragons RFC are looking for a Junior Academy Physiotherapist/Therapist to lead the Junior Academy medical provision ensuring identified players have the care and attention to support their development into professional athletes. Lead the Regional Age Grade team with medical support through the identification and treatment of injuries to regional age grade players in training and competitive fixtures, with specific responsibility for the U18s.


Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure all aspects of player care are monitored including prehab, rehab, treatment and return to play for Academy players.
• Act independently and in collaboration with physiotherapy team to assess, analyse and provide a clinical diagnosis for all injured players to determine their need for physiotherapy intervention.
• Act independently to plan, implement, evaluate, treat and progress player care to maximise rehabilitation potential.
• Manage caseload of players effectively and efficiently of players identified in the Junior Academy and Regional U18s programme.
• Maintain patient documentation, records and accurate statistical information to reflect care provided and meet professional standards.
• Enter all clinical data in the WRU electronic medical note keeping system.
• Communicate and make recommendations to maximise player care and promote multidisciplinary working.
• Assist in developing, implementing and maintaining appropriate clinical guidelines ensuring clinical effectiveness to optimise player care.
• Assist in the preseason-screening programme.
• Provide pre-game and pitch-side medical support services at home and away fixtures as required.
• Support and mentor other Physiotherapists and Sports therapists to develop physiotherapy services to maximise player care and efficient use of resources through the age grade programme.
• Comply with health, safety and other regulations.
• Assist in delivering WRU Minimum Medical Standards Criteria for annual compliance evaluation.
• Ensure there is medical provision at all times for all regional age grade programmes.

Qualifications + Experience
• Degree in Physiotherapy or Degree in Sports Therapy/ Sports Rehab
• Membership of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP) or Membership of Society of Sports Therapy/ BASRSAT
• Level 2 immediate Care in Sport (PHICIS) or equivalent qualification
• Experience of working with developing athletes
• Understanding + experience in an elite level sport environment
• Eligible to work in the UK
• This role is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure check.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Proficient at using all Microsoft and mac-based office programmes.
• An understanding and commitment to equal opportunities in employment and sport
