About Vinco

Vinco is a specialist media and streaming company dedicated to track and field athletics. We deliver high-quality live productions, distribution and on-demand content for international federations, broadcasters, and online audiences. Our work spans live streaming, content management, and media/broadcast operations.

Why join us?

- Work at the heart of global athletics, covering some of the world’s biggest track & field events.
- Be part of a small, agile team where your ideas and skills make a direct impact.
- Opportunity to travel internationally to major sporting events.
- Exposure to cutting-edge broadcast technology and workflows.
- Growth potential — the role combines technical expertise with leadership responsibility.

Role Overview

We are seeking a broadcast engineer and project coordinator, based in our Wilmslow (UK) office, with both strong technical expertise and the adaptability to contribute across multiple areas of live production. You will be responsible for managing streaming workflows, supporting broadcast operations, and helping guide the production team to deliver world-class athletics coverage.

You will play an important coordination role — ensuring the team stays on task, supporting decision-making, team management and occasionally liaising directly with clients. The role is hands-on and varied, requiring someone as comfortable solving technical issues as they are vision mixing, producing, or assisting with event logistics.

Key Responsibilities

Broadcast Engineering & Operations
- Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot live streams using SRT, RTMP, and HLS.
- Operate and maintain Dante audio networks and integrate with wider broadcast systems.
- Oversee computer networking and connectivity for live productions, including bonded WANs and IP-based routing.
- Run our master control room (MCR) and ensure reliable signal distribution.
- Support on-site and remote productions in roles such as vision mixer, producer, or technical operator.

Technical & Organisational Support
- Maintain and prepare broadcast hardware/software, suggesting workflow improvements as technology evolves.
- Assist with rigging/de-rigging, transport of equipment, and general production support.
- Contribute to planning, scheduling, and admin tasks that keep projects on track.

Leadership & Team Coordination
- Act as day-to-day coordinator, ensuring the team meets deadlines and deliverables.
- Provide guidance and support to staff and freelancers.
- Step in as a decision-maker when the Managing Director is unavailable.
- Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Represent Vinco with professionalism in client-facing situations.
- Liaise with rights-holders, suppliers, and production partners to ensure smooth delivery.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong knowledge of live streaming workflows (SRT, RTMP, HLS).
- Practical experience with Dante audio systems and IP-based routing.
- Solid understanding of computer networking (VLANs, bonded WANs, switches).
- Hands-on experience in live broadcast operations (vision mixing, production, or similar).
- Excellent troubleshooting skills under pressure.
- Organised and proactive, with strong communication skills.
- Comfortable handling both technical and administrative tasks as part of a small, multi-skilled team.

Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience with live sport broadcasting, ideally athletics.
- Familiarity with vMix, Unity Intercom, NDI/SRT workflows, and AWS/cloud-based broadcast solutions.
- Background in operating cameras or directing production crews.
- Knowledge of health & safety requirements in live event environments.

Personal Qualities
- Proactive and solutions-oriented.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing production needs.
- Team player who can also take the lead when required.
- Professional and approachable in client-facing situations.
- Enthusiastic about sport and live event broadcasting.
- Willingness to work weekends and unsociable hours.
