Job Description
Coach Core is at a transformational growth stage. Over the last year, charity income has grown by almost 25%, bucking sector trends in a highly challenging economic climate. The income budget for FY27 is set at £1.58m.

To support this trajectory, we are seeking a Charity Treasurer Trustee who is both operationally focused and governance focused, bringing strategic vision, enthusiasm, and deep financial expertise.

While overall financial matters remain the collective responsibility of all trustees, the Charity Treasurer takes the lead in guiding, advising, and supporting the Board and executive leadership.

We specifically seek someone with professional financial-accounting qualifications and experience to help us enhance our financial governance, assessments, and financial best practices across the charity.

Key Responsibilities of the Charity Treasurer
• Financial Governance & Best Practice Enhancement: Lead on elevating the charity’s financial governance framework, financial risk assessments, internal controls, and adherence to operational
financial systems employed by the charity.

• Strategic Financial Leadership & Viability: Agree and set the overall strategic approach to finances with the CEO and Chair. Monitor and advise on the long-term financial viability and resilience of the
charity, evaluating the financial implications of any new growth or project strategy.

• Audit Committee Chair & Reporting: Chair the Audit Committee (executing actions accordingly with the CEO), present budgets, management accounts, and annual financial statements to the Board, and liaise directly with external auditors on the preparation of annual charity accounts.

• Financial Controls & Accounting Records: Ensure full compliance with charity accounting standards (SORP), ensuring proper accounting records are maintained, and financial resources are controlled,
invested, and economically spent in line with legal and regulatory requirements.

• Reserves & Risk Management: Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of the charity's financial reserves policy and financial risk-management processes.

• Staff & Executive Liaison: Maintain active liaison with executive staff responsible for day-to-day financial operations, acting as a supportive mentor, critical friend, and counter-signatory where required.

Person Specification: Experience & Skills
• Professional Accounting Qualification: Hold a recognised professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) with demonstrable financial-accounting expertise.

• Charity Accounting & SORP: Deep understanding of the Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) for charities, charity financial regulations, and statutory reporting standards.

• Financial Governance Expertise: Proven experience in building or enhancing robust financial governance frameworks, risk assessments, and internal financial controls within a growing organization.

• Operational & Governance Focus: Ability to balance operational hands-on oversight with high-level strategic governance and board scrutiny.

• Strategic Vision & Analysis: Ability to evaluate financial metrics, budget projections, and strategic growth risks, combining commercial acumen with constructive challenge.

• Collaborative Leadership: Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach, with a commitment to working constructively alongside the Chair, CEO, Board, and finance staff.
