Swimming Teacher Organisation Cardiff Metropolitan University Salary £29,588 to £34,610 per annum pro rata Location Cyncoed Road, Cardiff, CF23 6XD Contract type Fixed Term Closing date 26 April 2026 Interview date 12 May 2026 Job Description As a Swimming Teacher at Cardiff Met Sport, you’ll play a key role in delivering high‑quality, inclusive and progressive lessons across our Learn to Swim, school swimming and intervention programmes. You’ll create positive experiences for swimmers of all ages, support their development, and contribute to a consistent and reliable aquatics offer.The role involves leading sessions, supporting assessments, maintaining safe practice, and contributing to an environment where every swimmer can progress confidently.What you’ll do: Plan and deliver engaging, safe and progressive swimming lessons across all programmes.Review and evaluate sessions to support continuous improvement.Lead lessons using clear teaching plans aligned to the programme framework.Assess swimmers, record progress, and communicate updates to parents or guardians.Support behaviour management to maintain a positive learning environment.Mentor assistant teachers and volunteers.Prepare, set up, check and safely store equipment before and after sessions.Follow safeguarding, child protection and health and safety requirements always.Working PatternYou will deliver up to 7.5 hours of teaching per week across the following sessions:Tuesday: 16:00 to 18:00Thursday: 17:00 to 20:00Saturday: 09:00 to 12:00The remaining time, up to a total of 8 contracted hours per week, is for planning and administration tasks linked to the role.What you’ll bringYou bring strong communication skills, a commitment to high‑quality teaching, and the ability to support participants at different stages of development. You work well in a team, contribute to a stable and reliable workforce, and help us deliver consistent lessons that support learner progress and overall programme quality.A Level 2 Swimming Teaching qualification (ASA, SEQ, or STA Certificate). Understanding of safeguarding, child protection and participant wellbeing.Knowledge of customer care and positive service delivery.Experience planning and leading swimming lessons in a club, school or leisure setting.Ability to monitor, assess and record swimmer progress.Confident communication with children, parents and colleagues.Ability to manage equipment safely and support lesson logistics.
