Job Title 1st Team Performance Analyst Date Prepared August 2026

Job Role
To support the first team performance analysis department by managing individual player learning plans, maintaining comprehensive video and data databases linked to the club’s game model, delivering high-quality post-match and opposition analysis, and assisting with the capture and processing of training and match footage. The role contributes directly to maximising the long-term development and performance of the first team squad.

Key Responsibilities
Individual Player Development & Learning Plans
• Own and maintain Individual Learning Plans for a group of first-team players, including a structured database of relevant training and game clips that support Individualized development objectives.
• Proactively produce insight reports and video packages that highlight development trends and performance patterns at both individual and team level.
Game Model & Best Practice Database
• Build and maintain a database of training and match best-practice clips aligned to the club’s game model, ensuring content is easily accessible for coaches and players.
• Contribute to the continuous refinement of the game model through video and data evidence.
Match & Training Capture / League Compliance
• Film & code all first-team training sessions to enable immediate video review.
• Assist with the live capture process for home & away first-team matches, including wide-angle filming and live coding support.
• Manage and ensure full compliance with league standards for the uploading and delivery of match footage and associated data.
Data Analysis & Reporting
• Produce high-quality post-match technical data reports at both individual and team level, providing clear insight against evolving benchmarks.
• Prepare pre-match opposition data reports and ad-hoc opposition analysis as required by the coaching staff.
• Maintain and update league-wide databases across the season to support monthly data reviews.
General Support
• Assist in the delivery of unit and individual meetings to the first-team playing squad.
• Support research projects and respond to ad-hoc requests from senior management.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Head of Analysis and/or Coaching Staff

Club Responsibilities

Data Protection – Take responsibility for the protection of personal data and confidential information, ensuring compliance with UK GDPR and Cardiff City Football Club’s Data Protection Policy.
Training & Development – Undertake all reasonable training, learning and development activity designed to support you in your role.
Diversity and Equality – Be responsible for your own behaviour and act in a manner that avoids and discourages any form of discrimination or harassment; comply with Cardiff City Football Club’s Equal Opportunities Policy.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
• A degree in Performance Analysis, Sports Science, or a MSc in related field (Desirable).
• Previous experience as a Performance Analyst at a professional football club (Desirable).
• Strong practical understanding and experience of industry-leading analysis software including Hudl, Sportscode, Insight, Wyscout,, Final Cut Pro, Keynote and Microsoft Excel.
• Exceptional IT skills with proficiency on both Apple and Windows platforms.
• Solid understanding of current tactical trends and the working requirements within professional football.
• Proven ability to manage and organise large video and data libraries, including individual player clip databases and best-practice libraries linked to a game model.
• Strong work ethic with the drive to push the department forward; able to operate effectively under own initiative and as part of a team.
• Excellent organisation, time management, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to prioritise workloads, adapt quickly and maintain a flexible attitude in a fast-paced environment.
