Job purpose
Cardiff City Academy is an integral part of the Club’s vision. A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join the Cardiff City Academy Coaching Department (Goalkeeping) in a part-time capacity.

We are now seeking a part-time goalkeeper coach, who will play a pivotal role in providing our pre-academy and Foundation Phase goalkeepers with an excellent grounding in skill development in line with the academy blueprint. The successful candidate will be provided with support in their professional development by the Phase Lead staff; Academy Goalkeeping Lead and Head of Coaching.

Main duties
• The successful candidate will work within a our pre-academy and Foundation Phase structure (U7-U11), with occasional additional responsibilities across older age groups.

• Plan, deliver, and evaluate coaching sessions in line with the club’s coaching blueprint.

• Deliver sessions in an engaging manner that embraces a culture of ongoing learning with appropriate levels of challenge and support.

• Matchday coaching will be a fundamental aspect of the role.

• Please note that candidates will be required to work during evenings and weekends.

• To follow and implement the Academy playing and coaching blueprint whilst contributing to its evolution.

• To ensure a thorough working knowledge of the content and functions of the
Academy performance plan.

• Ensure thorough and up to date reporting of performance data via Football Intelligence Platform.

• To ensure player safeguarding is always the primary consideration in all players activities.

• To attend staff meetings as and when required (unless exceptional circumstances apply).

• To adhere to a strict code of confidentiality in respect of any information relating
to Cardiff City Football Club and its operations.

• To maintain Cardiff City Football Club’s Safeguarding, Health, Safety and Equal Opportunity procedures and practice.

• To act in a manner that always supports the Club’s Vision and Values.

• Any other task deemed relevant and appropriate by the Academy Manager.

Person Specification
Essential Desirable
Qualifications UEFA B Licence (Outfield and Goalkeeping)
FA Youth Award (or working towards)
Emergency First Aid in Football (FA) or Equivalent
Valid Enhanced Level DBS Certificate
FA Safeguarding Children Workshop certificate
FA Advanced Youth Award

UEFA A License (Goalkeeping)

Experience Experience working with young goalkeepers.
Experience working with young goalkeepers within an Academy environment.
Knowledge Organised in planning,
preparation and execution of a
coaching syllabus.
Demonstrable competency in
effective reviewing of coaching
sessions and fixtures.
Ability to deliver information to players and staff through a
variety of means on and off the field. Ability to work across
multiple functions of Performance Management Tools. (Kitman Labs)
Functional IT skills in relevant
software (Microsoft Office,
Football Intelligence Platform, SportsCode)
Skills Engagement is a primary focus of our coaching strategy. Developing active learning through purposeful engagement of young players is an essential requirement.
Adaptability to be effective in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills in a variety of settings.
Ability to work as part of a
broader multidisciplinary team.
