Football Coach Organisation Canford School Salary Sports coach rates start at £24 per hour Location Canford Magna Contract type Fixed Term (Part time) Closing date 19 April 2026 Job Description Overall PurposeThe Football Coach is responsible for supporting the development and delivery of an effective football coaching programme, working with players across the 13 – 18 age range (Shells to U6th). The Football Coach will potentially have responsibility for leading boys and/or girls teams, as well as assisting the development of players of all ages and standards, continuing to drive forward Canford’s school football provision.DutiesCoaching Canford’s teams and players throughout the season (across two terms)Help support and develop the other Football staff, to ensure quality delivery throughout the Canford Football pathway – and potentially refereeing matches.Planning and coaching individual and group sessions.Attend specified competitions as agreed with the Head of Football.Contributing to and facilitating communication of football news and developments internally and externally, including within Canford Sport, through the school’s media department, with parents, and within the broader football communityCommunicate effectively within all areas of Canford life including pastoral, academic and co-curricularEngaging actively in continuous personal development and the development of Canford Sport.Any other duties that the Head of Football and/or the Director of Sport and Physical Wellbeing sees fit, providing that such duties are appropriate to the role.Knowledge / ExperienceSuccessful experience of coaching youth football within schools, clubs, or the football pathwaysA UKCC / FA Football Coaching Award and/or a refereeing qualification is desirableA good level of current technical and tactical knowledge of the game with a passion to develop furtherThe ability to plan, implement and adapt training sessions across a range of ages and abilitiesExcellent communication, organisation and administrative skillsCommitted to developing students in line with the ethos and values of Canford SportA confident and inspiring leaderAn ability to engage and motivate young people in football both in training and matches.Capable of planning and delivering sessions focusing on identified goalsA strong team player capable of integrating their own ideas with those in a broader organisational environmentEmbracing of Canford’s aims, ethos and visionCommitted to equality, diversity and inclusionCanford School is committed to equity, diversity and inclusion in all areas of our Community and encourages applications from all suitably qualified candidates.Canford School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.All successful job applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening.
