Olympic U23 National Coach Organisation British Triathlon Salary Circa £50k FTE (£35k pro-rata) Location Loughborough, with frequent domestic and international travel Contract type Permanent (Part time) Closing date 21 May 2025 Job Description The team at British Triathlon are looking to recruit for the new role of Olympic U23 National Coach – the final role in a completely restructured Olympic national coaching structure.The primary purpose of the role is to oversee the development of the U23 age-group – transitioning athletes from Juniors, through the U23 age-group and into senior racing. As our new Olympic U23 National Coach, you’ll be responsible for supporting U23 athletes and their coaches through this key development window, using your expertise to drive performance standards towards the podium, solve performance questions, and check & challenge individual athlete plans (IAP’s). Critically, as the national coach bridging the gap between Junior and Senior racing, you’ll have a key role to play in driving an aligned and consistent coaching philosophy through the whole Olympic pathway.You will also be responsible for delivering national activities for the World Class Programme (WCP), including acting as the lead coach for the European and World U23 Championships and – alongside other national coaches – the national programme of training camps.As Olympic U23 National Coach, you will work hand in glove with our Olympic Head Coach, Head of Olympic Pathway and Olympic Youth/Junior National Coach in the management and delivery of the British Performance Pathway (i.e., everything from the top of Junior programme through the various Home Nation Institute programmes and the World Class Podium Potential Programme). The successful candidate will hold a key leadership role for the wider national coaching team and will, therefore, be required to build strong and trusting relationships with the selected U23 athletes and all coaches/staff engaged in their support, particularly the Centre coaching staff (especially Leeds and Loughborough), British Pathway staff and coaches and UKSI/TASS/WIS/SIS science and medicine staff. Please note a few key practical elements relating to this role:- The role is being advertised as a 0.7 FTE (3.5 days per week), with pro-rated salary. This is primarily related to the current size of the U23 cohort. We intend reviewing this after 12 months and may consider moving the role to full-time, should the U23 cohort be predicted to grow (and if budget allows).- The role is based in Loughborough, but regular travel will be expected to Leeds, or any other locations nationally where key U23 athletes are based. Regular overseas travel to camps and competitions will also be required.
