Job Description
Team GB is recruiting for the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in Dakar, Senegal from 31st October – 13th November 2026 https://www.olympics.com/fr/dakar-2026/.

• Application process and job description will be posted on the UK Sports and Team GB websites and sent to Home Country Sports Institutes (HCSI) to disseminate to their nominated practitioners.
• Before applying, the candidate should secure clearance from their appropriate line manager (HCSI &/or National Governing Body [NGB]) where applicable.
• HCSI employees that are core funded will be released to undertake their duties on HCSI time on the proviso that their HCSI duties can be covered in their absence.
• NGB employees must gain clearance from their sport in advance of applying for this HQ role.
• Applicants who are not full-time HCSI employees will need to account for their non-HCSI time.
• When applying, please state clearly your HCSI full-time equivalent status and whether your role is core funded or NGB funded.
• External candidates (non-HCSI) are invited to apply on an equal basis, and each application will be considered on its merits.
• Transparency with employees over the time commitment for the role is essential.

Relationships & Interfaces:
Reports directly to Team GB Chef de Mission and Team GB CMO during the YOG with remote support from BOA Chief Medical Officer (CMO), and BOA HoPS.
Works closely with Team GB HQ and NGB clinical colleagues, Team GB Headquarters staff, & all sport Team Leaders

Dates Active in Role:
c.24th October to 15th Nov 2026, final dates tbc. (YOG runs 31st Oct to 13th Nov 2026)
All dates / requirements essential for preparation in the build up to deployment to the YOG.








Key Responsibilities:















Key Responsibilities:
• Provide the highest quality clinical support to those athletes and support staff seeking out the HQ service for the duration of the YOG.
• Provide a responsive, accessible, physiotherapy support service to all Team GB delegates, both in the YOG Village, at competition and training venues, and any other location deemed appropriate to meet the requirements of the job role.
• Ensure a high standard of health promotion & preventative care in liaison with the athletes’ support staff (Physiotherapist, Team Leader, Coaches and others), including advice on the prevention of injury and illness.
• Liaise with other clinical personnel, sports science staff and other support staff as required in advance of, and during the Games to ensure the highest standard of care of an athletes’ injury or illness and optimum rehabilitation and management, whilst always working within the CSP and HCPC guidelines on patient confidentiality.
• Provide a responsive soft-tissue service to athletes as part of the pre-event preparation and/or the post-event recovery if requested and appropriate.
• Promote drug-free sport and have a working knowledge of The World Anti-Doping Code.
• Refer to appropriate specialists and other members of the wider medical support team as appropriate.
• Keep detailed, confidential, and secure physiotherapy records of all consultations on the PDMS athlete records system.
• Provide reports on physiotherapy activity within the village or other locations as required.

Person Specification:
Essential qualifications and experience:
1. Completed a recognised undergraduate degree in Physiotherapy (BSc or the equivalent)
2. Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) with enhanced Professional Indemnity Insurance cover
3. Registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).
4. Current up-to-date Advanced Trauma and Life Support course (e.g. PHICIS, Scrumcaps etc.)
5. Current UKAD “Introduction to Clean Sport” Certificate
6. Current up-to-date Adult and Child Safeguarding training from a recognised provider.
7. A minimum of 4 years postgraduate clinical experience in the provision of specialist musculoskeletal physiotherapy in an elite-sport environment

Desired qualifications and experience:
1. Completed a recognised Postgraduate course of study (MSc or equivalent) in Sport and Exercise Medicine or Advanced MSK
2. Currently working with elite Olympic athletes either through a HCSI appointment or directly with an NGB
3. Previous major Games experience with a sport (European or World Champs)
4. Previous work in a multi-sport Games environment e.g. World University Games.
5. An understanding of the BOA Standard Operating Procedures during Games-time

6. Availability for full duration of The Games and during the preparation phase
7. Ability to speak French would be advantageous

Hours of Work:
Working hours will be as required to fulfil the role and the fluctuating demands throughout the YOG.
The post-holder will be required to acknowledge this and work in a flexible manner to accommodate all requests where appropriate.

DBS check up to date
A full UK driving licence may be advantageous

The selection process will consist of: • Short list selection • Interviews will be either in person at the offices of The British Olympic Association in central London, or via Microsoft Teams. Format to be advised. • Appointments will be announced in May 2026. • Team GB YOG HQ Workshop Day, June 30th (central London). Candidates must ensure that they are available to meet the requirements of fulfilling the allocated job role, including all necessary dates in the build up to the YOG.
