(YOG runs 31st Oct to 13th Nov 2026)All dates / requirements essential for preparation in the build up to deployment to the YOG.Key Responsibilities:• Provide the highest quality clinical support to those athletes and support staff seeking out the HQ service for the duration of the YOG.• Provide a responsive, accessible, medical support service to all Team GB delegates, both in the YOG Village, at competition and training venues, and any other location deemed appropriate to meet the requirements of the job role.• Ensure a high standard of health promotion & preventative care in liaison with the athletes’ support staff (Physiotherapists, Team Leaders, Coaching staff and others), including advice on the prevention of injury or illness.• Liaise with other medical and clinical personnel, sports science and other performance support staff in advance of, and during the Games to ensure the highest standard of care of an athlete's injury or illness and optimum management whilst always working within the General Medical Council’s Good Medical Practice guidelines and the Professional Code set out by the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine (UK): https://www.fsem.ac.uk/standards-publications/professional-code/• Assist in the development and implementation of the Team GB Medical Care strategy (including pre-Games Team GB Medical Questionnaire) and Team GB Standard Operating Procedures, working alongside the BOA CMO and BOA HOPs.• To promote drug-free sport and have a working knowledge of The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Code.• To refer to appropriate specialists and other members of the clinical support team as appropriate.• To keep detailed, confidential, and secure medical records of all consultations on the PDMS athlete records system.• To provide reports on medical activity / utilisation within the village or other locations as required.Person Specification: Essential qualifications and experience: 1. Of good standing with GMC and on GP and/or Sport and Exercise Medicine (SEM) Register, or other specialist Register2. Recognised Postgraduate course of study (MSc, Faculty exam, or equivalent) in Sport and Exercise Medicine3. Enhanced professional indemnity cover for elite sport (e.g. MPS / MDU / MDDUS / Sempris)4. Current up-to-date Advanced Trauma and Life Support course (e.g. PHICIS, PHTLS, Scrumcaps etc.)5. Current UKAD “Introduction to Clean Sport” Certificate6. Current up-to-date Adult and Child Safeguarding training from a recognised provider.7. A minimum of 3 years postgraduate clinical experience in the provision of specialist Sport and Exercise Medicine in an elite-sport environmentDesired qualifications and experience:8. Currently working with elite Olympic athletes either through a HCSI appointment or directly with an NGB9. Previous experience as an NGB Medical Officer10. Previous experience in primary care aspects of SEM (preferably General Practice Vocational Training / Primary Care trained, or completed specialist training in SEM) and on GP, SEM, or other specialist Register. 11. Previous major Games experience with a sport (European or World Champs)12. Previous work in a multi-sport Games environment e.g. World University Games13.
