The expression of interest will be open from Monday 13th January – Sunday 16th February 2025.The selection process will consist of:• Short list selection via CV and 1 page cover letter• 1st Round of interviews to be held on 3rd March 2025• 2nd Round interview (if required) may be scheduled for mid-March 2025• Interviews will take place in London at the offices of The British Olympic Association (BOA), 101 New Cavendish Street, W1W 6XH, or remotely via Microsoft Teams. Liaising with the BOA Head of Performance Services (HoPS) in the lead-up to deployment.Dates Active in Role: c.26th January to 23rd February 2026, final dates tbc. The post-holder will be required to acknowledge this and work in a flexible manner to accommodate all requests where appropriate.Special Requirements: • Professional Registration• DBS check up to date• A full UK driving licence may be advantageousKey Responsibilities:• Provide the highest quality sports medicine support to all athletes during their preparation and competition phase, and for the whole duration of the Olympic Winter Games.• Provide a responsive, accessible medical support service to all Team GB delegates, both in the Village, at competition and training venues, and any other location deemed appropriate to meet the requirements of the job role.• Ensure a high standard of health promotion & preventative care in liaison with the athletes’ support staff (Medical Officers, Physiotherapists, Team Leaders, Coaching Staff, and others), including advice on the prevention of injury or illness.• Liaise with other medical and clinical personnel, sports science and other performance support staff in advance of, and during the Games to ensure the highest standard of care of an athlete's injury or illness and optimum management whilst always working within the General Medical Council’s Good Medical Practice guidelines and the Professional Code set out by the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine (UK): https://www.fsem.ac.uk/standards-publications/professional-code/• Assist in the development and implementation of the Team GB Medical Care strategy and Team GB Standard Operating Procedures, working alongside The Team GB and BOA CMO’s and BOA HOPs.• Promote drug-free sport and have a working knowledge of The World Antidoping Agency (WADA) Code.• Refer to appropriate specialists and other members of the medical and clinical support team as appropriate in the lead-up, and during The Games.• Keep detailed, confidential, and secure medical records of all consultations on PDMS.• Provide reports on medical activity/utilisation within the village or other locations as required.Personnel Specification: Essential qualifications and experience -1. Of good standing with GMC and on GP and/or Sport and Exercise Medicine (SEM) Register, or other specialist Register2. Recognised Postgraduate course of study (MSc, Faculty exam, or equivalent) in Sport and Exercise Medicine3. Enhanced professional indemnity cover for elite sport (e.g. MPS / MDU / MDDUS / Sempris)4. Current up-to-date Advanced Trauma and Life Support course (e.g. PHICIS, PHTLS, Scrumcaps etc.)5. Current UKAD “Introduction to Clean Sport” Certificate6. A minimum of 4 years postgraduate clinical experience in the provision of specialist Sport and Exercise Medicine in an elite-sport environmentDesired experience:7. Currently working with elite sport athletes either through an HCSI appointment or directly with an NGB8. Previous experience as an NGB Medical Officer9. Current or previous experience working with elite winter sport athletes.10. Completed specialist training in SEM leading to membership of the Faculty of Sport & Exercise Medicine (FSEM) UK11. Experience in primary care aspects of SEM (preferably General Practice Vocational Training / Primary Care trained or completed specialist training in SEM)12. Previous major multi-Games experience (OG; OWG; CWG; EG; WUG)13. Previous work with Team GB at a multi-sport Winter Games (YOG; EYOWF)14.
