Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a creative and dynamic Marketing & Communications Assistant to join our Commercial Department to provide practical support to our marketing and communications staff. This varied entry-level role offers hands on experience and development in a broad range of marketing, communication and commercial administration.
You will help ensure our campaigns, partnerships and events run smoothly by updating web content, co-ordinating social media posts, supporting events and assisting with marketing, communication and partnership activity.
The key purpose of this role is to help the organisation grow its reach across all our media platforms, and in turn to service and grow our membership through exceptional communications and marketing.
This role is ideal for someone who is proactive, with good attention to detail and eager to develop their skills while contributing to the work at an organisation that connects people with routes to adventure.

SPECIFIC WORK AREAS

• Helping to deliver the BMC’s marketing and communication activities, ensuring platforms are engaging and the BMC brand is well represented across all channels
• Assisting in producing and scheduling social media content for our Facebook and Instagram accounts in line with the social media calendar
• Monitoring comments and messages across all BMC, GB Climbing and GB SkiMo social media channels, and responding to general enquires and passing on specialist queries to the relevant staff where needed to help grow our reach
• Supporting the Head of Commercial to service commercial partnerships by helping to deliver their agreed marketing rights and assisting with the practical arrangement for partnership activations
• Supporting the BMC’s grassroots local area committees with social media and email administration to help volunteers in making the local areas the beating heart of the BMC
• Updating the BMC website with approved content in line with the annual marketing and communications plan
• Helping to source, prepare and upload accessible social media content, including partner posts and material related to BMC work programmes
• Assisting with collecting and reporting performance data using data analytics tools such as Meta and Google Analytics
• Uploading and filing media assets, ensuring all materials are clearly labelled and stored correctly
• Providing administrative support for marketing campaigns promoting BMC membership and insurance products
• Helping to deliver paid social media and email marketing campaigns
• Keeping key contact lists up to date (partner, press and influencers)
• Creating and editing marketing materials and visual assets using Canva or Adobe software
• In busy periods, assisting the Events Team with ticket setup, pre- and post-event communications
• Carrying out administrative tasks as requested to support the work of the team and the wider BMC
