Job Purpose
British Ice Skating is seeking an experienced and hands-on finance professional to join as Finance Manager, leading all aspects of the organisation’s finance function. This pivotal role combines strategic leadership with operational delivery, covering statutory compliance, robust financial management, grant and project accounting, and day-to-day operations within a small team. The successful candidate will play a critical part in supporting the growth and sustainability of the sport while helping deliver BIS’s vision: to inspire a passion for ice skating that is inclusive and accessible for all.

Key Results Area

• Maintain and develop robust internal control frameworks, policies, and risk management.
Financial Management & Reporting
• Produce timely, accurate management accounts and Board/Committee packs.
• Prepare statutory accounts and coordinate the annual audit.
• Ensure compliance with VAT (including partial exemption) and all HMRC requirements.
• Oversee and develop BIS’s use of NetSuite ERP.
Operational Delivery
• Manage payroll, pensions, accounts payable/receivable, and credit control.
• Ensure effective bank reconciliations, cash management, and restricted funds oversight.
• Oversee stock control and cash handling at events.
• Prepare and monitor monthly project and grant reports.
Grant & Project Accounting
• Ensure accurate project and grant accounting across multiple funding streams.
• Prepare and submit grant claims and evidence packs to funders.
• Monitor restricted/unrestricted funds and ensure compliance with funder terms.
Governance & Compliance
• Act as lead officer for the Audit, Risk & Governance Committee.
• Ensure BIS meets all charity, company, and funder reporting obligations.
• Support and train staff and budget holders on finance systems, policies, and reporting.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional to take a leadership role in British Ice Skating, combining strategic financial management with hands-on operational delivery. The Finance Manager will play a key part in ensuring BIS is sustainable, compliant, and well-positioned to grow and develop ice skating across the UK.

• Strong track record in financial leadership in an SME, charity, NGB or not-for-profit
• Excellent technical knowledge of management accounts, statutory reporting, VAT (partial exemption), and audit
