JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Senior PR Executive (Consumer)
ORGANISATION: Great British Racing
REPORTS TO: Head of PR

OVERVIEW
Great British Racing (GBR) is the central promotional and marketing body for British Horseracing. It is responsible for growing consumer engagement and reaching new and existing audiences via
creative strategies and activations that increase interest in watching, attending and overall involvement with the sport.

JOB PURPOSE
We have a fantastic opportunity for a creative and motivated Senior PR Executive to join our team. The right candidate will have a proven track record in consumer PR, with demonstrable experience of delivering consumer-focused PR activations and earned editorial results and,
ideally, an existing network of media contacts to tap into.
The role will see you work across innovative campaigns that continue to increase the popularity of horseracing, Britain’s second biggest spectator sport. You will be responsible for telling the sport’s stories in a way that resonates with both our customers and the press, and for supporting across the development of creative PR campaigns and activities designed to amplify the sport, including working with high-profile stars of the sport, talent ambassadors and brand partners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage, develop and implement integrated PR campaigns in line with the organisation’s overall strategy, setting out performance metrics in advance and reporting on the outcome of the activity undertaken.
• Create and run press events that engage consumer press and deliver coverage opportunities for racing. This will include promoting the sport’s stars, talent ambassadors and brand partners as appropriate.
• Demonstrate an ability to broaden the appeal of racing by delivering quality earned editorial results specifically within consumer media and through a strong network of media and influencer contacts including influential bloggers, journalists and online influencers.
• Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to develop and sell-in creative shareable content, including video and other digital assets, ensuring the greatest possible reach for initiatives.
• Write and produce promotional materials of the highest calibre including press releases, newsletters and shareable online content, and ensure its effective distribution to the media.
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with other racing and non-racing organisations including, but not limited to, local racecourse teams, the British Horseracing Authority and other sporting professional bodies.
• Brief work to external suppliers, demonstrating clear knowledge of budgetary restraints and deadlines, utilising negotiation skills when required.
• Manage influencers, ambassador and promotional jockey activity including film days and media events.
• Create detailed media coverage analysis and impact reports, demonstrating the role that PR has played in furthering the objectives of the organisation.
• Handle issues, concerns and problems in a timely and professional manner and escalating as appropriate.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
• Minimum of 3-4 years’ experience in a consumer PR environment
• Enthusiastic and dedicated, with a desire to work in a consumer PR environment
• Excellent communication skills including meticulous written skills
• Professional outlook and creative approach, and team working skills
• A creative thinker who relishes coming up with innovative promotional ideas
• Demonstrable ability to use initiative, be proactive and work at speed
• Highly organised with an ability to multi-task and manage several projects at various stages whilst remaining calm and professional
• An established contact book and evidence of ongoing relationships with relevant media, particularly online and consumer contacts
• Experience of developing consumer-focused PR ideas and stunts and proven ability to gain media coverage within a fast-paced and results-driven PR environment
• Able to work autonomously, as well as part of a team, and to think strategically
• Exceptional selling in skills and ability to pitch to journalists
• Creative thinker with the ability to turn ideas into reality within budgetary and time constraints.
• Excellent inter-personal skills and the ability to develop strong working relationships with journalists, online influencers, ambassadors, consumer brands and team members.
• Experience of stakeholder management is beneficial; an understanding of working with multiple stakeholders is essential
• An existing interest or desire to learn more about horseracing
