Job Description
DEPARTMENT: OPERATIONS
REPORTS TO: PARTNERSHIPS SALES MANAGER

Bristol Bears Rugby is part of Stephen Lansdown’s sporting group of companies which includes Bristol Sport, Bristol City Football, Bristol Flyers Basketball and each of their respective community charities.

Our ambition is ‘to inspire our community through rugby success’. Our supporters regularly attend Ashton Gate Stadium to watch the team perform in Premiership and European Cup Competitions as well as our Women’s team who play at the highest level of domestic competition.

ROLE SUMMARY

We’re looking for someone who thrives on outbound sales, is motivated by results, and brings genuine passion for both sport and commercial success!

The primary objective of this role is to identify, nurture, and secure new partnership opportunities, with a strong focus on player, event, and matchday sponsorships. The role is responsible for achieving and exceeding sales revenue targets through effective, proactive sales and marketing initiatives. A key focus will be on identifying and engaging businesses across the region to build and maintain a strong new-business pipeline. This position requires a dedicated and passionate sales professional with proven outbound sales experience and a genuine love of sport.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Player sponsorship

• Review the player sponsorship package, creating new sales collateral
• Renew or sell all the Men & Women’s players for 26/27 campaign
• Oversee all contractual, financial and activation elements of this revenue stream
• Account Management (in-house & with each sponsor)
• Build and maintain an up-to-date record of all pipeline accounts providing a weekly report of generated sales to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
• Responsible and accountable for achieving sales targets as set by the CEO
• Work closely and collaborate with the partnership’s activation team and partnerships sales manager


Match day sponsorship

• Review (and revise) the package and create new sales materials
• Sell matchday sponsorship package for each Home Match Day at Ashton Gate (including Big Day Out)
• Sell additional assets and packages for Big Day Out, the club’s annual marquee game in Cardiff including LED and big screen partnerships
• Contacting prospective clients through a variety of mediums including LinkedIn, telephone, email, presentations or meeting in person

HPC Events and activations

• Creatively sell HPC events opportunities to existing clients and new businesses
• Proactively identify new business event opportunities to drive revenue into the sales pipeline for men and women’s teams
• Develop long term relationships with partners to identify any potential growth accounts

KEY RELATIONSHIPS

• Chief Executive Officer

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

• Ability to negotiate commercial terms and present confidently to decision makers
• Highly organised, good attention to detail and methodical approach to workload
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbally
• Confident relationship builder with a commercial mindset

DESIRABLE SKILLS

• Previous knowledge and experience of the sports industry
• Proven direct client relationship management experience
• New business acquisition activity undertaken
• Understanding of partnership activation and brand objectives
• Existing local or regional business network
HEALTH AND SAFETY

• Responsible for ensuring all health and safety procedures are followed at all times, with relevant documentation to support
• Report all incidents and accidents as required

SALARY: £26,000 - £28,000 per annum depending on experience plus discretionary bonus structure.
