Salary: £27,000 - £30,000 (depending on experience)

Do you want to grow the game of rugby and make a real difference in your community?

Bristol Bears Foundation is the official charity of Bristol Bears. We believe rugby is more than just a game. It’s our way to create lasting change. Through our strategy, Beyond the Bear, we use rugby as a tool to tackle inequality by inspiring healthier, stronger, and more connected communities across Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire.

We’re looking for a passionate and driven Community Rugby Lead to coordinate and deliver impactful community rugby programmes, helping to grow participation and create meaningful opportunities for young people from diverse backgrounds.

Your Role

As Community Rugby Lead, you will play a key role in planning, coordinating, and delivering our Community Rugby programmes. Working closely with the Community Rugby Manager, you will lead on the delivery of Project Rugby (funded by PREM Rugby), alongside growing and developing our Skills Masterclasses, whilst supporting Player Development Camps.

You will work across schools, community settings, and grassroots clubs, ensuring a high-quality, inclusive rugby offer that supports participation and long-term engagement in the sport.

Key areas of responsibility include:

- Lead the delivery of Project Rugby, including Touchline Academy, ensuring alignment with funder requirements and KPIs
- Plan and deliver engaging rugby sessions, particularly for young people from lower socio-economic and diverse ethnic backgrounds, as well as disability groups
- Grow and develop Skills Masterclass attendance, delivering sessions that are progressive and appropriately pitched
- Support the delivery and promotion of Player Development Camps
- Build strong relationships with schools and grassroots rugby clubs to support participant transition into community clubs
- Monitor and report programme data via Upshot, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to funders (including 6-monthly reports)
- Support wider Community Rugby activity, including matchday activations and events

This is a hands-on role that blends delivery, coordination, and relationship management - ideal for someone passionate about inclusive sport and using rugby to drive positive social impact.

What You’ll Bring

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds. If you’re excited about the role and meet most of the criteria, we’d love to hear from you.

Essential:

- England Rugby Coaching Award (ERCA) or Level 2 Rugby Union Coaching Award
- Experience delivering sports coaching in both school and community settings
- Proven experience managing projects and achieving measurable KPIs and outcomes
- Experience developing and maintaining partnerships with schools, clubs, or community organisations
- Strong understanding of the local rugby landscape across Bristol and community networks
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Enhanced DBS check and two satisfactory references

Benefits

- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
- Access to matchday tickets for both Bristol Bears and Bristol City Football Club
- Bristol Bears branded kit
- Continuous professional development opportunities
- Pension scheme
- Flexible working environment, where possible

The closing date for applications is 17 July 2026.

*We reserve the right to close this vacancy early, if a high volume of applicants are received and previous applicants need not apply*
