Job Title: Education & Sport Tutor

Salary: £22,495 - £24,495 per annum dependant on experience

Hours of Work: You will be expected to work a minimum of 37.5 hours per week, excluding lunch breaks. The role may on occasion include evening and weekend unsociable hours. 40 days annual leave + bank holidays + additional leave.

Overall Purpose of the Job:

Under the direction of the Head of Further and Higher Education, carry out the professional duties of a teacher and of a pastoral lead.
Provide quality teaching and learning for BTEC Level 1, 2 and 3 sport students and to support delivery of other Trust programmes when required.
To support with the delivery of the University of South Wales degree programme.
Manage and support student welfare activities. To offer guidance to students in relation to bursaries, exam entries and any other issues that may need support.
To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students.
Collating and monitoring attendance data.
To facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.
To contribute to raising standards of student attainment.
To share and support the Community Trust’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The post holder will be responsible and accountable for:

Teaching of BTEC level 1, 2 and 3 in Sport. In addition to this, the post holder will be expected to support the University of South Wales University programme delivery and other Community Trust programmes.
Work with other teachers and coaches to deliver high quality sports provision.
Contributing to the excellence of teaching and learning in BTEC Sport.
Support with the delivery of our female football development programme.
Contacting absent students / parents to ensure regular contact and support can be given to all.
Working with the Head of Higher and Further Education to ensure that student welfare is given priority and that any student who requires additional support is offered it in a timely manner.
Ensuring that all contact with and arrangements for students and their welfare is safeguarded and promoted.
Act as a personal tutor to students; supporting them to achieve their goals.
Contributing to the quality assurance within the curriculum area.
Participating in continuous professional development activities.
Promoting equal opportunities in service delivery and employment.
To promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons for whom you are responsible and with whom you come into contact.
To maintain good order and discipline among the students and safeguard their health and safety both when they are on the Trust premises and when they are engaged in authorised Trust activities elsewhere.
Acting in accordance with Trust corporate objectives and policies and seeks to promote them.
Maintaining awareness of, and acting in accordance with, the provisions of the Health & Safety at Work Act.
Fulfilling other duties, as may reasonably be required from time to time, including evenings, parents’ evenings, Trust events, school holiday football and sports camps etc.
Supporting on Blackburn Rovers FC match day activities as and when required.
General:

To always, represent Blackburn Rovers FC and BRCT in a professional manner regarding dress, presentation, personal hygiene, attitude, conduct and professionalism.
To be able to work flexible and unsociable hours where the role of the job requires including some evenings and weekends and overnight stays.
Qualifications:

Essential:

PGCE (or Working towards)

Suitable sports related degree

Level 1 and 2 Sports Coaching Qualification (s)
